Lost your mojo?

Have you ever found yourself in a scrapping rut?  Lost your mojo?   Why not try swapping photos with a friend?  Sometimes just a fresh subject can give you that inspiration that you need.  Some of our design team members decided to do just that - mix it up a bit.  Photos were swapped and scrapped.  This is what some of our lovely team members did with the other member's photos.  Aren't they wonderful?

Christie Bryant scrapped a photo Candy send her:

Emeline and Hilde also swapped photos. Here are their creations.

The spotlight is on for Julie Kelley!

Hi, I'm Julie Kelley, and I live north of Boston, MA with my husband, 2 children and one kitty... I've always been a "crafter" and just love to make things! Although I've always kept some kind of book, I started scrapbooking in the more modern sense when I attended a Creative Memories party at my sister's house just after my first child was born... Since then, my "paper" obsession really took off!! I'm a middle school teacher by day, but you can find me most evenings at the kitchen counter, or the dining room table making some kind of "scrappy goodness" and up to my eyes in snippets of paper... It's rubbed off on my 5 year old daughter, as she now has her own craft bag and wants the scraps of all my "pretty papers!!"

I couldn't be more thrilled to be on the Graphic 45 blog!! The papers are just so beautiful, I stalk the UPS man at the LSS where I teach when I know the G45 papers will be on the truck!!

The Winner … Julie Howard!

DT member, Susan Dupre hosted a challenge at http://www.scrapbook.com/ and Julie Howard was the lucky winner. Since her project is such a gorgeous project, we would love to show it to you with a great tutorial. Thanks Julie!

The Box
I started with an inexpensive paper mache box from the craft store.  First I measured and cut all of my patterned paper to the correct size.  Then I sponged all of the edges with Tim Holtz’s Vintage Photo ink.  For the corner pieces (on the box bottom), I used my sewing machine to do a quick straight stitch.  Then I adhered all of the paper to the box using Mod Podge (matte).  I followed up with two additional coats of Mod Podge over the papers and the stitching.

The Pin Cushion
Freehand, I cut out several circles from an old pattern.  Haphazardly layering the circles, I balled them up in my hand, flattened them slightly and then made a small pleat in the center before putting a staple through the middle.

Next I took tape measure and gave it a good coating of ink for a more vintage look.  Then I simply wrapped the tape measure loosely around my hand.  Very carefully I slipped it off and, using some string, tied it tightly in the center.  After that I was able to fan it out and position it how I wanted.   Using glue dots, I placed the tape measure flower on top of the pattern tissue paper.

I then cut a length of rick rack, attached a small pair of embroidery scissors and hot glued them into the center of the tape measure.  Using hot glue again, I positioned the tomato pin cushion.

The box is perfect for storing all of the sewing notions that I’ve managed to accumulate in my scrap area.  And I love that I can always find my scissors now!

The spotlight is on for LaKeta Ille!

Hi! My name is LaKeta Ille.  I live in a small “Mayberryish” community in Oklahoma.  I have been happily married for 10 years.  God has blessed us with two amazing children; Chloe who will be nine in a few days, and Seth who is seven years old.  I am a fifth grade teacher and I love it!

I took a scrapbook class right after my daughter was born, and started a HUGE collection of scrapbook supplies.  However, I wouldn’t say I became addicted to scrapping until just recently. I stumbled across scrapbook.com and was amazed at the transformation of the art of scrapbooking since I first began in 2000.  I couldn’t help but be inspired.  This fueled my creativity beyond measure.  I generally scrap late at night, when the house is quiet.  I love the little details in a page or project.  It is nothing for me to spend four to five hours on a layout…because I like to “play” with every possibility of the design.

I am thrilled and honored to be featured on the Graphic 45 blog this week!  It is my first time to have any of my work showcased in any form or fashion. The news completely made my week. J J J

DT photoswap

All of the dt members recently talked about doing a photoswap. It sometimes is really helpfull for your mojo to scrap someone elses photos. For example, you have darling little daughters, so you scrap mostly girly pages. With a photoswap you can have the change to create a cool boypage..

The first you are going to see is the swap between Susan Dupre and Amanda Johnston. Susan got the change to scrap a girl, and look; she created this amazing page;

And Amanda created a wonderful page with Susans photo;

Find someone where you can do a photoswap with. It's really fun!!! More DT members have swapped photos, so there will be more!!
