Introducing our guest designer for October...Jenny Svensson

My name is Jenny Svensson and I am a huge Graphic 45 fan. I am so excited about having been chosen to guest design this month. I’ve been into scrapbooking for about 3.5 years now, and I see it as my escape from my busy life. There’s nothing better than Friday night, when the kids are in bed and the house is all quiet and I can sneek into my little studio and dig into my stash.

When I am not covered up to my ears in G45 papers I teach English and Swedish. My students are between the ages 12 and 16, and surely it can be tough sometimes, but those moments when the struggle finally pays off and you get the feeling that you actually make a difference for a young person make it worth the effort.

I mainly scrap about my children, Albin, 6, and Agnes, 3. I love altering stuff, and I make quite a few cards as well. The main reason why I have fallen so hard for Graphic 45 is probably that these papers fit my style so well. I love having them around me and I love decorating my home with them. I also love everything old and vintage, so the G45 look is perfect for me.

Take a look at some of the beautiful work that Jenny has put together for us to share with you, she is very talented and we are so happy to have her with us this month!

Graphic 45 and Tattered Angels

A perfect combination! I can tell you that. The colors are so close it looks like they are made for eachother.

Yesterday I created this layout using the new Renaissance Faire collection. I only used 2 sheets of patterned paper with this layout since they have an amazing pattern on the back as well. To give the layout some dimension I used Tattered Angels Glimmermist colors Turquoise Blue and Coffee Shop.

Just spray some glimmermist on the corners of your layout. Not too much, just a little.

Enjoy!!

Chicken or Egg, Layout or Sketch

Hello Graphic 45 Blog Readers,

Are you ready for a new sketch?  I know I am!  In fact, I’m always ready for new sketches!  Admittedly, I love sketches of every kind!  They are such a great way to jumpstart my creative process.  Sometimes I follow the sketch to the ‘T’, but most of the time, I let them be a guideline and a starting point for my layouts.  And then… there are these times, that I turn a layout into a sketch!!  That’s right!  So this is what I bring to you today.

My “How Things Were” layout was created last summer and recently appeared in Memory Makers May/June issue. I turned this layout into a sketch for you to use.  So it’s a reverse process, one that I do quite often.  I find that for me, to effectively scraplift another layout for that layout’s format and structure, I’m best served by converting the layout into a sketch and go from there.  So I hope you will find a little inspiration in my layout and the sketch that I have turned it into.  Happy creating and dig into that beautiful Graphic 45 stash of yours!

I fell into scrapbooking in the fall of 2008 while trying to write & design a personalized book for my son's 4th birthday gift. After visiting my first real 'scrapbooking' store I was in awe and completely overwhelmed with the amount of different papers, embellishments and products to choose from. I completed my first layout in November of 2008 and have been addicted ever since. My design style is constantly changing and I am always looking for new techniques to try. I am loving 'fussy cutting' lately and I tend to gravitate towards rustic-vintage/shabby chic with lots of distressing! I am inspired by wonderful photos (of my 3 kids mostly) and awesome patterned papers. I have been fortunate enough to have several of my layouts published and my blog featured a handful of times. I am currently on the design teams for Scrapbook Star, Creative Scrappers, Myki and Butterfly Crafts and am also a Staff Member at Scrapbook News and Review Magazine.
