Christie Bryant Strikes Again. Plus a Special Surprise!

Greetings all!  Christie Bryant one of our fabulous design team members strikes again, this time with two great card ideas.  With card season upon us, (Mother's Day, Graduation, Father's Day, Weddings, and Birthdays) I thought it was perfect time for some inspiration.

Here is what Christie has to say:  "Sometimes thoughtful, handmade cards can come together really fast.  I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist & Glimmer Screens along with Graphic 45 Times Nouveau paper to put this card together in less than five minutes (one of my fastest projects yet).  I was happy with how quick and easy it was to use the Glimmer Mist Products, they're a perfect addition to any Graphic 45 project."

"It is easy to throw a pretty card together in no time, especially when you use Graphic 45 paper.  One of my favorite lines is the Times Nouveau, I tend to use it a lot for cards because it's so versatile.

Recently I challenged myself to use leftover scraps of paper and embellishments sitting on my desk after putting a project together.

Using my leftover Graphic 45 paper and my new TOMBOW products, I came up with this little ditty."

Introducing Trisha Ladouceur...

We are very excited to have Trisha on the design team.  She is a very talented paper crafter and an experienced educator for a number of manufacturers, including Tattered Angels, Prima and My Minds Eye.

Trisha

A Bit About Trisha

I have been an avid scrapbooker for nearly 12 years and have taught
for more than 10 years in Canada and the United States as well as
overseas. I have been married to my best friend Drew for more than 17
years and have two wild, but devilishly-handsome boys, Logan and
Carter who are more often than not, the source of my inspiration. I
reside in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where the long, cold winters
provide plenty of scrapbooking time for me.

I love to create projects that are very detail oriented and
incorporate texture and dimension wherever possible. You will not find
a “flat” project anywhere in my portfolio! The best part of it all is
that I love to teach and constantly show my students that they too CAN
create a work of art that they will be proud of. When the steps are
broken down and simplified, any task can be accomplished by any level
of scrapbooker. The look of success on their face when they complete a
project they think that they never could have done is the source of my
greatest joy in the scrapbooking world:)

Here are few projects that Trisha sent in with her application.  Aren't they beautiful?

Graphic 45 Returns From Down Under!

Aimee and Diane just returned from Australia and cannot stop talking about their wonderful experience, which in turn is making me crazy jealous!  I have looked through the hundreds of photos, heard all of their wonderful stories, and have decided to share with you their top five favorite highlights!

  • First and foremost - the people were all so amazing.  Everyone was so delightfully friendly and easy to make connections with. Aimee and Diane both expressed to me how many wonderful people they got to meet and how many new friends they have made.

Diane Sherry Mendoza

  • The Scenery, absolutely breathtaking, from Boni Beach to the Sydney Opera House.  It was impossible not to fall in love with the Australian landscape.

  • The entire Creative Block event.  It was so well put together, even down to providing tea and pastries everyday at 10am and again at 2pm!  Hats off to the entire Print Blocks crew for creating such a positive experience,  not only for us the manufactures, but also the attendees.

Way to go Aimee, you hold that poster board with style and grace!

  • Dinner at Andrew and Simone's (the owners of Print Blocks - our Australian distributor) beautiful home.  They invited all of the manufactures over to their house for a delicious dinner.

  • The shopping - of course!  The two favorites were the Historic Queen Victoria building and the Junk Yard (thank you Sherry for taking us to your favorite spot)!

Diane wanted to take it all home with her.

  • Aimee's last statement: "and of course all of the one on one time I got to spend with mom."

I do have to admit one of the best job perks is all of the traveling we get to do together, and meet all of the wonderful people in the industry.  Next stop summer CHA in Chicago!

Take care and happy papercrafting!

Introducing Jane Tregenza from Australia

We are so happy to have Jane on the team.  I have to say that she created one of the most beautiful books that I have ever laid eyes on and so meaningful for her family.

Jane_for_web

Here is what Jane told us when she applied:

My name is Jane Tregenza, I own a scrapbooking store in Adelaide, South Australia. I teach 10-15 classes a month. I love teaching and am passionate about scrapbooking. I recently did a tv spot to be shown later this year in Australia and have been asked to do more. I have been on the design team for Addicted to Craft (2009) and made the top 50 scrapbookers for the Scrapbooking Memories magazine Masters for 2009. I Love Graphic 45, and working with their detail designs.

I love all forms of scrapbooking, layouts, off the page and mini books, female and male themes.  Mini books would have to be my favourite. The book I have included in my 10 projects,  titled  Norm is one I have made from scratch including the cover. It is for my Dad who has had a stroke last year. Sorry there are no photos in it. I didn’t realise your call had gone out until mid last week! So is has been a bit of a rush to get projects together in time. My style in scrapbooking is varied depending on the products I use.  I do like to keep the photo the focus.  I have done classes with Tim Holtz who introduced me to his Distress Inks, I fell in love and so my work reflects this love affair  of distressing, inking, stamping, embossing and off course Glimmer Mist, which I used on my chipboard pieces.

This is a quick picture of her beautiful book that she sent in for her final project.  We will share more pictures at another time.

Here are some other projects that Jane made for her submissions for the team:

Let's take a moment to welcome Christie back on the team!

Christie Bryant has been with Graphic45 since the beginning, her soft style is very romantic and reminiscent of the vintage era.  We are happy to have Christie continue on with us and would like to share some of the beautiful work she submitted for our design team call.

There are so many wonderful techniques on this layout, hand sewn picture frame, cut and folded border with lacing and a beautiful hand rolled flower.

Spotlight Artist: Dora Dekker!

Hello one and all.  Today I wanted to share some inspiring work I found while strolling through our Ning gallery.  It is far too easy to get lost for hours looking at the photos of all of the amazing projects on the gallery.  Check out this breathtaking Le' Romantique album created by Dora Dekker, in the Netherlands.  Nicky

Just look at all of that lace and the creative ways to use it.  For a lace junkie like me, I instantly fell in love.

Nicky3

It only gets better when opened, pockets and tags galore!

Nicky11
And the grand finale, a pocket for a love letter.  All of the stitching, distressed edges, and inking, makes one have to appreciate how many hours went into this album.

Working here in the office with emails, phone calls, and orders to be processed, it is a little slice of heaven looking at what is being created out there with Graphic 45 paper.  It makes me proud to be behind something so truly amazing.  Thank you all who use our papers in your projects.  Keep uploading those photos!

Best wishes,

Charee Nicole Filimoehala

Introducing Laura De La Rosa...

We will be introducing our new design team members over the next month so you can get to know them, see some of the work that they submitted and say hello.

Lauradelarosapic

Our first design team member is Laura De La Rosa from Florida. When we asked Laura to tell us a bit about herself this is what she told us:

I have always loved Vintage items especially keys!!!!  When I was collecting keys one day I stumbled onto a scrapbooking item that included keys, from there I have loved scrapbooking and altered items. I love to recycle and create awesome vintage items with them. My strengths are Vintage and shabby chic.
Ever since I worked at a scrapbook store in Lakeland, Fl. {Violettes Stamps & Scrapbook store} I fell in love with your Vintage paper Collections!!!!  I have purchased every Collection you have. I have had the privilege to meet you all at CHA last year 2009!!! This was the greatest thing in the world besides meeting Tim Holtz!!! I don’t know, your paper just speaks to me and brings me such happiness {funny I know}.

Here are a few beautiful projects that Laura sent to us:

Some Vintage Love In The Studio

I love to make items to decorate my studio and it must be VINTAGE inspired!  I made this little album to showcase the things that I love about the vintage era.  I am only sharing the front with you today, as I have to make the pages still and then share them.  I think the pages will contain uhhhmm, vintage dress forms, trunks and old keys and timepieces, those are my inspiration pieces.

Hey I think this will become my inspiration book!

Highlights from our Boston trip. Plus check out the beautiful Le' Romantique Flower Make N' Take that we taught!

Greetings everyone!  This is my first blog post so please bear with me.  What a busy week we have had since our return from the Collins Group show last week in Boston/Framingham.   Upon our arrival back home we had a number of things to get caught up on to name a few, make the very tough decision of our new design team (beyond difficult since everyone turned in amazing works of art), process all of the orders from the show, and catch up on all of the work we missed being out of the office.  However, slowly but surely things are getting back on track. . . YESSS!!

So, I thought I would share some photos from our Boston/Framingham trip of my Mom (Diane) and sister (Aimee).  Thankfully Aimee and I have Yelp! on our phones, I can't tell you how much it saved us from getting lost and helping us to choose destinations.  We ate at so many wonderful cafés and restaurants!  And let me not forget the fabulous shopping, the amazing experience exploring The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (my favorite), and driving all around the Harvard campus.  Boston is quite the enchanting city.  Don’t be surprised if Graphic 45 relocates within a few years… oh, only kidding.

RIMG0949

Here Aimee and I are trying not to blow away into the Boston Harbor.

RIMG0941

Diane fell in love with all of the Brownstones.

After two days we packed up and headed to Framingham for the show!  The first morning there Diane taught a fantastic class, a policy envelope album using the A Proper Gentleman collection.  The class was full and everyone had a lot to do in 90 minutes. Luckily all of the talented lovely ladies in the class were face paced and by the end we all made it through with finished beautiful albums.

RIMG0999

This is a fun photo of Aimee and two wonderful Graphic 45 fans, Sharee and Diana!  Smile ladies.

RIMG1006

Diane is making the rounds making sure everyone is right on track.  Goal number one: Everyone leaves with a finished album!

After the class we had just enough time to sneak in some lunch and get ready for the three hour make and take.  The make and take went really well, we made these fun and flirty Le' Romantique flower pins.

It's amazing how fast three hours seems to fly by during these make and takes.  It is always a pleasure to meet everyone and put a face to the name of all the wonderful people behind the great stores that support Graphic 45.

Here is the Le' Romantique Make N' Take directions and template.

Thank you all.  I am signing out.
