Getting Punky with Steampunk Debutante with a little Christmas Spirit.

Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is getting busy with their holiday projects, time sneaks up with us as you know.  I have made "one card" and that will go to one person as it will be the ONLY card I make as I am not a cardmaker and give it a try once in awhile and always share when I do.

I had a great time using a "Spunky Sprout" album from Punky Sprouts to make an album for my pictures from CHA.  I just love the mixed media albums with cardboard, canvas and acrylic giving alot of different options.

Christmas Past 12 x 12 Layout by Gloria Stengel:

Gloria-August-Xmas-LO1

Gloria-August-Xmas-LO2

Cardstock - Bazzill
Paper - Graphic 45 Christmas Past (We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Deck the Halls, Jolly Old St. Nicholas)
Stickers - Rebbecca Sower Designs (alpha), Graphic45 Staples (journaling block)
Chipboard letters - L'il Davis
Flower - Maya Road
Pins - Maya Road
Glitter - Cat's Pajamas Glitzy German Glass
Ribbon - unknown
Pen - Zig
Other - Vintage postcard

To create the sparkly chipboard word "Santa" for this page, I spread a thin layer of white glue to the L'il Davis chipboard letters, then sprinkled each letter with German glass glitter. This "glitter" is actually crushed glass and not only gives a lot of sparkle and dimension to the layout, but also contributes to the vintage feel. I also added an actual vintage Christmas postcard to the layout.

Steampunk Debutante/Staples mini album “Albin’s Inventions” by Jenny Svennson

Supplies:

Graphic 45 – Steampunk Debutante “Victorian Transformers”, “Steampunk Debutante”, “Ephemera Extraordinaire”, “Fantasy Floral”, “ Eclectic Emporium”, “Mechanical Mind”, “Time Warp” and Tags.

Graphic 45 – Staples “Black Policy Envelope” album, Flowers, Alphabet Stickers and Stickers.

Graphic 45 – Domestic Goddess Alphabet

7 Gypsies – Door Knob

Zutter – 1” Antique Silver Binding wire.

I have Gyro Gearloose living in my house! It’s my 7-year-old son, of course, and he invents things on a daily basis. Sometimes he draws sketches of his ideas and inventions, once in a while he even tries to build one, but most of his ideas are the ones he blabbers about at the dinner table until his dad and I start developing ulcers in our ears! So, I though I’d make him a little album where he can hide his sketches and scribbled notes, pictures he cuts out from magazines for inspiration, and even a useful mechanical part or two.

The Black Policy Envelope album from the Staples collection turned out to be just perfect for this project. And the Steampunk Debutante collection, of course! Because, that’s about what I imagine my son’s brain would look like had we been living in a Steampunk world – full of gears and gadgets, and other mechanical things.

I also used the fantastic tags that come as packagings for the Staples collection, and bound them into my album. The distance between the holes of the album pages coordinates with those of the Zutter Bind-It-All, so it is really easy to add pages to these albums. I did also change the wire into a slightly wider one while I was at it, because knowing my son, I imagine that this album eventually will be packed with things and thus need a bigger spine.

Let's Get Punky......with Gloria.

Gloria does a Punky Sprouts album....Graphic45 Style!

A number of years ago, a friend gave me an old book called Back Roads of California. The book was filled with pen and ink drawings of all sorts of amazing California sights. I put the book away, knowing someday I'd use it for a project. This Punky Sprouts mini album is that project! I fell in love with these amazing drawings and think it makes a lovely little mini book. I mixed Graphic45 papers and other elements to jazz up the pages. I hope you enjoy looking.

Hallowe'en in Wonderland- Pop Up Card from Christie!

For the CHA show in Chicago, we asked our design team to go "outside the box" and make pop up cards with our newest collections.  Little did we know that these girls would more than deliver, they were stunning.

Today we are going to share Christie's Hallowe'en In Wonderland pop up card.

Alrighty Matey..some pirate stuff!

From Laura:
This LO was inspired by my G45 DT member {Tracey Locher}! She is a former DT member for Rusty Pickle, and she was so kind to be able to get me these Pirate stamps I no longer had {Thanks Tracey}!!!! This 12 x12 LO has tons of pirate goodies and lots of distressing, definetly one of my favorite things to do!

Tips/Techniques

To give the paper the burn torn effect I used my heat gun. I love the way burned edges look but hate the smell so instead I use my heat gun for the same effect! Chances are you won't burn the house or your craft room down. Also when you tear the edges use a water color ink like Tim Holtz Distress inks. This gives more of an effect than just using regular ink. I also used a Hambly Transparency, this transparency was a little too large for my LO so I shrunk it using my heat gun. This is a thin transparency so I kept the heat gun a good distance away so it would not melt and just shrink.

Thank you Laura for sharing your pirate creation!

Tammy shows us her rockin' canvas skills and more!

This is a canvas album jammed packed with love! I used the tags from the Le' Romantique collection and stamped different sentiments about love. This would make an awesome wedding gift or to give as a bridal shower gift.

And a beautiful baby layout:

This layout is dear to my heart.... this picture is of my Brother, whom we lost almost 2 years ago, back when he was a little tot! I really like the way it turned out... I cut each square out and stitched around each one... time consuming... but well worth it. I then inked and crinkled the edges. My favorite part of the layout (other than my Brother) is the hand stitching... the stars and heart!
