Card Utopia: Fun & Fabulous Birthday Card Tutorial by Christie Bryant
Good Day Crafters!
A very happy Thursday to you! We have a special treat in store for you today, a fantastic tutorial by the brilliant Christie Bryant! Christie is one of our fabulous design team members and today she's taking us on a journey through the creation of a gorgeous birthday card using our Once Upon A Springtime collection. This card is so adorable and super fun to make. There always seems to be a new birthday on the horizon so it's great to have a card ready for that special someone in your life. So whether you've got a specific person in mind, or planning ahead for the next looming birthday, this card is the perfect way to show someone you care! So lets go to the magical land of Christie Bryant for a step-by-step lesson in card making!
Fold Out Happy Birthday Card
Supplies:
1 - 12x12 inch sheet of cream colored cardstock (I used Coredinations Vanilla Cream)
1 - 8x8 inch Once Upon a Springtime Paper Pad
Ink and letter stamps to stamp "Happy" (I used Versafine and Portafolia Wooden Stamps)
Fine white glitter (I used Martha Stewart Crystal Fine Glitter brillo/paillettes)
Sheer cream colored wide ribbon (about 20 inches)
Creamy Brown Cat Eye Chalk
Adhesive
Mod Podge (for glitter)
Tools:
Cricut + Plantin Schoolhouse Alphabet (You may also use any die cut machine or 3" letters you prefer).
Paper cutter
Fine-tip scissors
Directions:
Using a 12x12 inch sheet of cardstock, cut three 4x12 inch strips of paper.
Fold each strip into three 4x4 inch squares. Chalk edges and folds using creamy brown chalk.
Cut two 2x4 inch strips (I used Enchanted Forest), fold both strips in half and glue the three cardstock strips together to create on long accordion-style strip.
Using Graphic 45 Flight of Fancy and a Cricut (or whichever die cut machine you prefer) cut 3 inch letters that read: BIRTHDAY and chalk the edges using your creamy brown chalk. Glitter your "BIRTHDAY" letters using Mod Podge and fine white glitter.
Using Graphic 45 Enchanted Forest, Stamp: HAPPY on the fairies with toadstools (bottom left-hand corner). Another idea: you could also use any font you choose from your home computer and feed the paper through your printer.
Cut three 4x4 squares using each of the following papers:
Flight of Fancy
Primrose Cottage
Tiny Treasures
Chalk the edges of your paper then attach them to your long strip.
Last cut out your favorite fairies from Graphic 45 8x8 inch Once Upon a Springtime and Woodland Fantasy.
Glitter the fairy wings and attach to your HAPPY BIRTHDAY fold out card.
We hope you've enjoyed this sweet tutorial. We want to thank Christie Bryant for her amazing imagination and for taking the time to share her creations with us.
