Craft Happy: Blog Contest and Craft Tutorial by Jade Moore
Hello Crafters!
Welcome to another stupendous, fun-filled, inspiring week at the Graphic 45 blog! We are so happy that you are joining us because you are going to love what we have in store for you today! Jade Moore of our design team has created a marvelous pop-up easel frame tutorial that is just amazing. And we have another blog prize to reveal this week! We all know Mondays can sometimes be rough, so we're going to do our best to bring some happy craft cheer to your day.
So lets start with prizes, shall we? This week I've been thinking a lot about happy accidents when it comes to crafting. Sometimes our best ideas are the ones we stumble upon without intending to. Have you ever found a shabby old item at a garage sale and had a sudden burst of inspiration on how to dress it up into a beautiful altered object? Or have you ever started out with a deliberate plan for your project and then scrapped it half way through in favor of something completely different and better? Happy accidents can be some of the best aspects of creating. So this week we're asking you to tell us about one of your happy crafting accidents. When have you had that "Eureka" moment? Share your story on today's blog and you could win this amazing prize pack: A Le Cirque 8x8 paper pad, Metal Flower Staples, Alphabet Sticker Staples, and a set of gorgeous Hampton Art/Graphic 45 Curtain Call Cling Stamps. Share your inspiration and you could win! Yay! Winners will be chosen randomly and will be announced on Friday.
All right! Now we're off to the amazing land of Jade Moore. Jade is going to take us through her process of creating a gorgeous pop-up easel frame layout. Enjoy!

This is amazing! That's my favorite release from CHA Winter by FAR!!!

Jade what beautiful art!
My inspriation can be what hits me at the moment. My granddaughter is my first inspration. She is so expressive and loves her photo taken. I fall in love with color combos I see. I especially love vintage photos my dad took when he was young. I'm most definately inspried by great art work found in Graphic 45's paper lines.

I wrapped some gifts in brown kraft paper and then drew pictures on them to make them more decorative. The recipient loved them and saved the paper. I was trying to figure out how the paper could be saved, but not just lay around. Then the lightbulb moment - I cut the fun sections of the paper and decoupaged them on a box... and now it is a permanent gift box.

One of my happy accidents is at times I rip the paper but when using Graphic 45 it just add to the look. I love your line. If I could I would use it for everything I create.

I just discovered you thru Life on the {Scrap} Beach. Ordered a bunch of papers and tags; went to stopandscrap.com and ordered more this morning. I have NEVER felt so drawn to anything before. I look forward to a lot of Controlled Mayhem to come, in my Art Journal and scrapbook. Not sure if Domestic Goddess or Le Cirque is my favorite.

I love it when the scrap pages in my mini album that star out as the worst turn out being the pages I love the most. I just continue to add more stuff and before I know it, I have an awesome page. Graphic 45 paper makes it really easy for me to cover up mishaps. All I have to do is do a little fussy cutting and my page is transformed!

Love Jade! Her work is truly inspiring. TFS!
Creativity is about taking risks and trying something new isn't it? I find that the more adventurous I am while crafting, the more creative I get. Love that G45 papers and embellies pose so many possibilities, completely different from everything else out there!

I found an old small decorative circus carousel in a antique store and I used
your LaCirque papers to give the carousel new life.

I love happy accidents like stamped images that are terrible for the project intended but beautiful inspiration for a project never even imagined.

Most of my creating is not planned ahead in any way... So I have happy accidents all the time *lol*
Most of the times it is the images I pick for my project, that just don´t feel right... So there I get new inspiration for my next project! And some times I have "colouring accidents" and again, more inspiration for a new project! Just now I´m working on one of my first tags ever... and I had 2 images lined up, coloured them and they both felt "wrong". So now I used one of the images for a card, and it is one of the most beautiful cards I have ever made! (in my oppinion that is *lol*)
Use all your "mistakes" for something else, and it might be better than what you first planned for!
Jade´s LO is so gorgeous! Fabulous!

My happy accidents are usually stamp related and covered up with something else.
Love Jade's project!

I was making canvas art for a submission and I painted the canvas bright red, then realized the embellishments did not match. It is not easy painting over red! I painted many, many layers of white and embellished the canvas and it came out better than expected.

Sometimes when making a large background intended to be cut down for inchies or atcs, I find that the ugliest areas are the most interesting areas when cropped and layered with images.

I have a trunk in the basement I bought a yardsale last year-- someday I will cover it-- it was one of those turn around and go back moments --
I have a chipboard book that I made look like whitewashed wood after several coats of paint and distress paints -- it is one of my fav projects I did --

I made 6 cloth dolls from scratch. I painted the acrylics on them and then wanted to spray them with a clear varnish so I could apply an antiquing gel medium for an aged look. To my disbelief I used a spray adhesive instead on all of them and thought that was the end of 'em and all that work. As it turned out when the glue finally dried it was very textured and made an even better grungy look with the antiquing added. It was a happy ending. ;)

Several years ago I was trying to burn glue over my tile that I had stamped to really get an aged look to the tile. When I finished and tried to rub the soot off it really made a mess, so I just put a different glue over the top and left it for the night. You couldn't begin to imagine the look on my face when the next morning I went to my project, expecting that I had totally ruined it, when not only could you see the stamping underneath, but there was this beautiful large crackle on top of the project. It was beautiful, with the soot in the crackles the tile looked like it had been burned and aged overnight. Happy Accident, or Frustrated Crafter.

My often have happy accidents when I try to paint on my projects. I find that when I try to be careful, my mistakes wind up looking better.

I love all of the paper!

Wow, Jade is a great inspiration. I love it that she doesn't measure and uses Hot Glue on her projects. What a great idea to make sure they last a long time. My Happy accidents happen quite often. The best one was when I was preparing to teach a class on a Christmas Star book, and I cut one of the PP's too short. I put it aside and bought another PP to use. After I got home, I had one of those AHA moments, I just made a very small version of the Star Book and turned it into a Christmas Ornament to put the current Christmas Pictures and year on it. It was a hit and I even sold alot in my consignment business.

Quando fui em uma loja de artesanatos e ví um Bule para guardar saquinhos de chá! Comprei, revesti e o decorei todo vintage para enfeitar minha cozinha!

I think that most of what I make is the result of one happy accident or another. Rarely do I have a plan when I start out. And often I'll just pull a pile of materials together and see what happens! That's the most fun for me!!! Anne, yourmainestamper

Most of my happy accidents occur when crafting with the kids. A lot of our projects start out one way and take a turn for the better. Kids are soooo creatively fun that way. :-D

I have had a couple of happy accidents with glimmer mist. I am not the best at preparing for misting so I tend to get overspray on other things, sometimes the things I get the spray on turn out to look cool that way, or inspire me to mist them more.

I guess "a happy accident" would describe the way my projects and cards are created. I start with the germ of an idea and take it from there! I'm never quite sure what the finished project will be like until it has taken shape and I know that's it!!! I sometimes have lots of leftover stuff to use on another project!!

My happy accident was when my sisters and I were going through several boxes of my mother's things looking for pieces to add to the scrapbook we were making for her birthday. Aside from the many treasured photos, we found little notes that she wrote to or about each of us telling us she was proud of this or that or praying that something turn out right for us.

I am an accident on the loose!! Originallity is key, perfection is boredom. . . . and there is nothing a little creativity can't fix!

I love the happy accidents like stamp-slips that end up leaving a double line but it's ok because it's on a snowflake. It just adds to the look of the piece because it makes it less perfect and more real.

Love the layout. Always love G45 papers!!

What a beautiful creation....I love the elements. Accidents always seem to happen when you least expect them...I usually will just cover it up or add something on it to distract the boo boo....sometimes those boo-boos open up the door for a different direction. Which can be a good thing.

Junk yards and garage sales have always inspired me - lost count of the number of times hubby has said and you bought that?? How much for that piece of junk which I then promptly turn into a gorgeous altered piece of art :) One of my favourites is a 15inch manequin I did using the newly released Steampunk papers and cogs and twiddleybitz - love her (she can be seen on my blog:) ) Cheers

Now that I have discovered doing Canvases those are "happy accidents". I"m not really sure what I'm doing yet so I just add and add and add and so far looking great. I'm so excited to go to my LSS to pick up your new line, it is going to be great with my canvases.
Thank you

What a gorgeous project! One of my usual happy accidents usually involves spilling things on my layouts. My most recent one involved Perfect Pearls, which I am now obsessed with...
