Craft Happy: Blog Contest and Craft Tutorial by Jade Moore

Hello Crafters!

Welcome to another stupendous, fun-filled, inspiring week at the Graphic 45 blog! We are so happy that you are joining us because you are going to love what we have in store for you today! Jade Moore of our design team has created a marvelous pop-up easel frame tutorial that is just amazing. And we have another blog prize to reveal this week! We all know Mondays can sometimes be rough, so we're going to do our best to bring some happy craft cheer to your day.

So lets start with prizes, shall we? This week I've been thinking a lot about happy accidents when it comes to crafting. Sometimes our best ideas are the ones we stumble upon without intending to. Have you ever found a shabby old item at a garage sale and had a sudden burst of inspiration on how to dress it up into a beautiful altered object? Or have you ever started out with a deliberate plan for your project and then scrapped it half way through in favor of something completely different and better? Happy accidents can be some of the best aspects of creating. So this week we're asking you to tell us about one of your happy crafting accidents. When have you had that "Eureka" moment? Share your story on today's blog and you could win this amazing prize pack: A Le Cirque 8x8 paper pad, Metal Flower Staples, Alphabet Sticker Staples, and a set of gorgeous Hampton Art/Graphic 45 Curtain Call Cling Stamps. Share your inspiration and you could win! Yay! Winners will be chosen randomly and will be announced on Friday.

Okay, lets get to the crafting! I absolutely love this first craft by Jenny Svensson. Have a look at this fabulous altered object that Jenny made with our Curtain Call collection and gorgeous May Arts ribbons. I love the shabby-chic look of this lovely craft. So unique and beautiful!

Jenny_february_mayarts1

"I have made the angel wings for this little dress form out of steel wire, and then I wound one of the adorable ribbons around the wire to give it a little softer feel. I also made the big flower out of a piece of the fabulous silk ribbon. The dress form itself is covered with scraps torn from the Top Billing paper from the Curtain Call collection, and then I sanded it to give it a shabby look." -Jenny Svensson

This next phenomenal craft was made by Jade Moore. Jade has such a knack for creating lavish layers and textures in her crafts! Have a look at this marvelous frame she made by combining Once Upon a Springtime and Curtain Call. She also used our fantastic Graphic 45 Staples and pretty May Arts ribbons. The result is this super cute, and stunningly vintage treasure.

Okay, lets get to the crafts. Today we're featuring the gorgeous works of Jane Tragenza, Tracey Locher, and Gloria Stangel of our Design Team. These great ladies have created some stunning projects today that will take your breath away. It's a cornucopia of craft inspiration! First up is the amazing Jane Tragenza. Have a look at her her beautiful layout using our new Curtain Call collection and May Arts Ribbons.

"I wanted to do a layout using Graphic 45’s new Curtain Call range of papers and the ribbons sent to me from May Arts where a perfect match. They kindly include some amazing ribbons, which I and the rest of the team would love to get more of. The black satin pleated  ribbon was to die for. I used it across the corner of my layout and place all the other ribbon embellishments I made along it.  I used some of their cream silk ribbon and ran a gathering thread along the edge and pulled it up tight to make a gathered flower. I made three flowers this way.  Another of the  ribbons was a sheer cream with a gold threads stitched along it. I tied a knot in it and cut it  so it had about half an inch each side of the knot. I placed one in the centre of each flower. Using another of their ribbons which was a green shot silk I made ends to look like leaves. The ribbons are so beautiful and soft. Included in the bundle was some coffee coloured ribbon that was perfect for tying a bow. The final touch was wrapping some of their gold wire around the end of a paint brush and using it as a curling twiggy thing! The whole layout turned out beautiful with a perfect combination of lovely papers and gorgeous ribbons. Who needs to buy an expensive embellishment when you can make your own." Jane Tragenza

"I am always looking for clever ways to present gift cards and this fun 3x6 inch "booklet" is perfect for holding a standard sized gift card! I cut two pieces of chipboard to 3x6 inches and covered them with Graphic45 paper. For the inside pages, I cut a sheet of Curtain Call paper to 10 3/8 x 5 1/2 inches. The paper is scored at 2 1/2, 5 1/2, and 7 3/4 inches. I tucked the gift card into a Graphic45 Envelope Tag Staples, which I attached to one of the inside pages. To hold the booklet closed, I glued some lengths of May Art ribbon to the back cover, and wrapped them around the book to secure it closed." -Gloria Stengel

Eye on the Prize: Blog Prize Announcement & Craft Inspiration by Tammy Roberts

Hello Marvelous Crafters!

A very happy Friday to you! Today is going to be super fun and fantastic! We've got this week's blog prize winner to announce, gorgeous craft inspiration by the amazing Tammy Roberts, as well as some updates for our Design Team call! Lots to do and lots to see. So lets get started!

First thing's first, prizes! This week we asked you to leave us a comment on Monday's blog telling us about someone or something that you love. We received so many beautiful responses, it was amazing. I wish I could give a prize to each and every one of you who shared your thoughts with us. But alas, we have but one prize to give. This week's random winner is Layne Mikoda. Here is what Layne had to say about her source of love.

"Above all, when I read your question, it was my husband who came to mind first ... the greatest gift the Universe ever gave me! This Valentine's is being spent alone but not entirely by choice as it was when I was happily single... My husband left Sat evening - my birthday, btw - to work on the opposite side of the country for the next year while I stay home... *sigh* On the upside? Another excuse to make more cards to send to him!!! *JOY* And the newest papers are FAN-freakin'-TASTIC!! The other loves who sprang to mind are my to-die-for ADORABLE niece & nephew... already working on cards for them with the new Le Cirque papers!!! With Gratitude, Layne PS Love G45 too!! ;)"

Big congratulations Layne! Please email us at info@g45papers.com to claim your prize. And many thanks to everyone who sent us comments this week. Your words are always a huge source of inspiration for us. Thank you for being such lovely people! There will of course be another chance to win a prize on Monday so stay tuned!

Okay, lets get to the crafting! Today we're featuring the stunning work of Tammy Roberts. These crafts are so pretty, its kind of unbelievable. Have a look at this gorgeous layout!

Primarily we just want to clarify that if you are submitting your work to us, be sure to make a page on your blog that is just your submissions for the Graphic 45 Design Team call. One page that displays all the work you are submitting for your audition. Please don't send just a link to your blog. While your work may be splendid, it's much easier for us to get a sense of what you can do with our papers if we can see your submissions on one single blog page. You can then email us the link to your blog that has all your G45 work submissions on display. If you didn't do this and have already submitted your work, don't worry about it. You wont be disqualified. We just wanted to make it more clear for those who have yet to send in their work.
