Life's A Beach: Sunny "On the Boardwalk" Crafts and Tutorial From Our Design Team

Hello Crafters!

Happy Thursday to you all! We are so glad you're taking the time to join us today for some fabulous crafts from our amazing Design Team. We've got a bunch of goodies in store for you today, including a terrific layout tutorial by Melanie Forbes! All of today's crafts feature our gorgeous On the Boardwalk collection. I happen to adore On the Boardwalk for it's amazingly vibrant colors, fabulous patterns, and overall sunny disposition. Take my advise, if you're ever having a gloomy day, make something special with On the Boardwalk. It's like taking a walk on the beach on a bright, warm day. It's a guaranteed smile-maker. Today's amazing On the Boardwalk crafts were created by Robin Shakoor, Hilde Janbroers, and Melanie Forbes. So put on your SPF because we're headed to the beach!

This first amazing layout was created by the brilliant Robin Shakoor. This layout is just so gorgeous and heart-warming. With a beautiful central photo, amazing paper rosettes, and lots of fun layers, this LO is a craft triumph!

"One Page Layout –  A day to the beach can turn into quite an adventure.  I used this photo of little Ryan concentrating on his latest find as my focal point.  I created rosettes using the beautiful “On the Boardwalk” collection.  One of my favorite design techniques is using circles to anchor my photo.  I cut a circle using a subtle sand colored patterned paper trimmed with a bold contrasting design.  I added liquid pearls to give a bit of shimmer.  To continue my circle theme,  I layered round photos with my embellishments transforming this layout into a multi-photo page.  What is a day at the beach without waves?  The bottom of my page features a die cut a wave border that I inked lightly to coordinate with my design.  It adds just the right touch to this fun day at the beach." -Robin Shakoor

1. Using versamark, embossing powder and heat gun – emboss key – put aside.

2. Ink chipboard nameplate black

3. Using trimmer cut out square 26cm x 26cm from On the Boardwalk  then measure in 1.5cm from each edge and cut out centre – distress and ink all edges then attach centrally to High Style Holiday

4. Mount photo (landscape 13 x 18cm) to Le Cirque leaving small border which is then distressed and inked. Using remainder of paper cut out using Paper rosette flower die – one flower assemble and place button on top.

5. Cut 19 x 22cm landscape rectangle (ensuring words are correctly placed) – distress and ink edges then attach to right hand inside edge of striped border approximately one inch up from bottom edge.

6. Layer embellishments – Cut one kraft doily in half and then place as per LO (one on bottom edge and one on left hand side), book page torn and placed with whole kraft doily on top right hand edge.

7. Attach mounted photo on angle and then attach remaining embellishments – key, envelop, paper rosette, 3 x flowers (sm and med layered staple flowers), lace under bottom edge of photo, title on chipboard, flourish with a bling vine, gauze, stickers, chipboard mantle top left hand corner of edges of LO and tag crumpled and inked before attaching.

8. Tear a 2 inch rip in top right hand corner of LO, gently roll down edges to reveal black chipboard. Using crop a dile punch holes and thread through thick twine. Tie off with double knot to prevent it untying. Voila!
