Today we are taking you on a grand tour of some incredible layouts that you're sure to love! We all have fun photos that we cherrish. Photos help give us a visual narrative for the precious moments in our lives. And is there any better way to celebrate your memories than with a beautiful layout using Graphic 45?! All of today's LOs all contain amazing photos, but the joy of these moments are truly brought to life in the exquisite LOs you're about to see. There's a fabulous Place in Time LO by Susan Lui, a French Country LO by Tara Orr and a Secret Garden LO by Arlene Cuevas! Get ready to wrap your memories in love with today's amazing layout inspiration! Lets begin with Susan Lui's Place in Time LO! Susan recently took a fabulous vacation to Venice. Here you can see how she celebrates her journey with this remarkable and colorful layout! Here is what she had to say about it!

"Here's a layout I scrapped of my family's recent holiday to Venice. The colourful houses that form the background of the photo called for a colourful layout and I found what I needed in the Place In Time collection. I selected the yellows, reds and blues in the collection to reflect the yellows, reds and blues in the houses. I went for a shabby floral look, distressing all the edges and layering the photo upon a postcard image and an air mail envelope, over some muslin. The title 'Venice' is housed inside the Graphic 45 Staples Ornate Metal Label Holder. Finally, a little cluster of Graphic 45 chipboards and flowers adorn the top right corner of the layout." -Susan Lui

Fun and Inspirational Book Tutorial by Jane Tregenza: Part 7!

JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Happy Tuesday, G45ers!

We are so excited to share the next installment of Jane Tregenza's book tutorial. Welcome to Part 7 of her wonderful, in-depth instructions for a gorgeous treasure you can cherish for years to come! This tutorial includes layering, composition, fussy cutting, tag-making and some great ideas and tricks from Jane. We are all in for a big treat today. So, grab a cup of coffee or tea, your scissors and supplies, and let's jump in!

If you have missed the other installments from Jane Tregenza's book tutorial, they are all here in one handy link:

Jane Tregenza 7th Page

All images, design, and instructions are copyrighted

An easy page with lots of fussy cutting

Please follow the instructions carefully. Read each instruction to the end before cutting. Lots of the
papers are used on the tags as well as for your pages, so you need to cut them the way I describe or you
will run out of paper! All chipboard has been sprayed black and cream spray paint. The flourish and
the word “you” need to be inked with Paprika. All papers have had their edges inked using Tim Holtz –
Vintage Photo and Colourbox liquid Chalk ink – Chestnut Roan.

Please note, I am only human and do make mistakes, I have taken every care while writing the instructions, and hope they make sense. It is quite hard to write instructions as I know what I mean; but this does not alwaystranslate into the instructions. If you are unable to work something out, then please ask a question in thecomments box at the end of the post and I will answer it for you as best I can. Or email me at [email protected].

Materials used:
Graphic 45 Print Papers

#4500579 Shanghai Girls x2

#4500432 Butterfly Specifics x1

#4500427 Exquisite Motif x ½ Sheet

#4500431 Race for Time x ¼ Sheet

#4500434 Genuine Article x ¼ Sheet

#4500310 Extravaganza x ½ Sheet

4x Black Cardstock and ½ Sheet of Cajun

Imaginarium Designs Chipboard Clocks, and titles
Brads

3L Photo Corners-Classic Black 3L 12x12 Adhesive Sheets.

Colourbox Dark Brown ink Pad, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Versa Cube Paprika

You need to have made your foundation page first (instructions below).

Black foundation Pages:

Instructions for creating a foundation page:

Each month you will need to make a foundation page. For this you will need two black sheets of cardstock.

Cut one to 8 ½ x11 inches- set it aside. Cut your second one to 9 ½ x 11 inches. Please keep the left over bits as you will need them later on.

DSC_0024

The 9 ½ x 11 inches piece needs to be scored, place it in your cutter at 8 ½ inch mark and score it, this will give you a one inch seam.

  DSC_0025

Completely fill in the one inch seam with strong tape.

DSC_0026

Carefully adhere the 8 ½ inch piece onto the 9 1/2 inches piece. Make sure you don’t go over your scored seam, or your page will not fold. Once you have it on, carefully fold the page over to check that it will shut.

  DSC_0028

Press firmly along the folded over piece, open up your page and check at the two pages line up nicely. Don’t worry if one of your pages is now wider than the other. You can trim it back to make them the same.

DSC_0031

You need to add some more tape along the join of your foundation page. Adhere one strip of tape along one side of the join and about an inch of tape on the other side of the join.

DSC_0034

A close up of the join with the tape each side. When you come to adhere your print papers, one piece will be an inch wider that the other page. The extra inch will need to be adhered over the top of the inch of tape on the foundation page.

Instructions for your 7th Page:

2JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

From your ½ sheet of “Extravaganza” cut 6 1 inch x 12 inch strips (if you can’t get this print then used on of Graphic 45’s other blue print papers- you could use Oceania or Tudor Rose-your print needs to be all over and not a stripe) Ink all the edges of your 6 strips.

3JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Add one strip at the top and bottom of the left side of your foundation page. One needs to be just down from the top and the other one just up from the bottom. I want you to have a small amount of the black of your foundation page showing at the top of your top strip and at the bottom of your bottom strip. They also need to be just in from the left edge. Remember to take the strips over the join in your foundation page for about an inch. Trim the excess off and adhere them to your page.

4JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Use your third strip and place it on the left edge of your foundation page. I found it easier to turn my page around so it was in front of me. Lay the strip down on top of your foundation page and trim it so it fits over the top of your other two strips. Adhere it to your page. Remember to leave a bit of the black foundation page showing.

5JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Fold your page over to set the crease in the middle of your strips so you can place the ones on the right side of your page. The right strips will need to go on top of the left ones and meet near the middle.

6JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Lay your first strip at the bottom of the right side of your page. Make sure it does not go over the crease line in the middle of your page. It wil be better if you can be a bit back from the crease line (to the right of it) and trim it so it fits on your page. Adhere it to your page. Repeat with the one for the top of your page. Use your third strip and place it on the right edge of your foundation page. I found it easier to turn my page around so it was in front of me. Lay the strip down on top of your foundation page and trim it so it fits over the top of your other two strips. Adhere it to your page. Remember to leave a bit of the black foundation page showing.

This is one way of adding a border around your page, but only using ½ a sheet of paper. It is quite easy to do and looks great on a page.

7JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Place your sheet of “Shanghai Girls” into your paper trimmer sideways and trim it back to 10 ¼ inches. Take it out and put it in your trimmer sideways and trim it back to 9 inches. Ink around all the edges.

8JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Cover the back of your sheet of “Shanghai Girls” with double sided tape or adhesives sheets. Peel a little bit of the backing off.

9JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Place your “Shanghai Girls” piece onto the left side of your page. Make sure you have the same amount of blue showing at the top, bottom and left edge of your page. Once you are happy with your placement. Peel the rest of your backing off and adhere it to your page. Remember it will go over the middle fold in your page about an inch.

10JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Fold your page over to place the crease in the middle of your page.

11JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Place your second sheet into your paper trimmer side ways and trim it back to 10 ¼ inches. Take it out and put it into your trimmer sideways and trim it back to 8 inches. Ink round the edges.

12JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Cover the back of your sheet of “Shanghai Girls” with double sided tape or adhesives sheets. Peel a little bit of the backing off.

13JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Place your second “Shanghai Girls” piece onto the right side of your page. Make sure you have the same amount of blue showing at the top, bottom and left edge of your page. Once you are happy with your placement. Peel the rest of your backing off and adhere it to your page. Remember it needs to be to the right side of the fold in the middle of your page.

14JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Add a photo corner to each corner of your “Shanghai Girls”.

15JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Place one of your sheets of “Endless Spring” into your paper trimmer sideways and trim it back to 9 inches. Take it out and put it in your trimmer sideways and trim it back to
7 ½ inches. Ink around all the edge.

16JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Cover the back of your “Endless Spring” print paper with adhesive tape or with adhesive sheets. Add a photo corner to the top left and bottom left of your piece. Remove only a little bit of your backing from your tape along the edge that will be in the middle of your page. Adhere it to your page. It needs to go onto your page to the left of the fold in the middle of your page. I found if I folded the right side of my page up a little bit, I could see the fold line better. Make sure you get it on straight. Once you are happy with where it is, you can remove the rest of the backing and adhere it down to your page.

  17JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Place your second sheet of “Endless Spring” into your paper trimmer sideways and trim it back to 9 inches. Take it out and put it in your trimmer sideways and trim it back to 4 ½ inches. Ink around all the edge.

18JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Cover the back of your “Endless Spring” print paper with adhesive tape or with adhesive sheets. Add a photo corner to the top right and bottom right of your piece. Remove only a little bit of your backing from your tape along the edge that will be in the middle of your page. Adhere it to your page. It needs to go onto your page to the right of the fold in the middle of your page. I found if I folded the left side of my page up a little bit, I could see the fold line better. Make sure you get it on straight. You should have a small gap in the middle of the two “Endless Spring” pieces where the middle fold is in your page. Once you are happy with where it is, you can remove the rest of the backing and adhere it down to your page.

19JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Your page should now look like this.

20JaneBookTutorialGraphic45

Now you need to make your frame for the title. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 5 ¾ inches x 8 inches. Cut a second mat of Cajun to 5 ½ inches x 7 ¾ inches. Adhere the two mats together. The next one to go on is out of black cardstock. Cut it to 5 inches x 7 ¼ inches. Adhere it to the Cajun. The final piece to go on is cut from your sheet of “Exquisite Motif (it is the blue pattered piece). Cut this print paper to 4 ¾ inches x 7 inches. Ink around the edges and adhere it to the middle of your black cardstock.

DSC_0065

Now this bit is important. You need to only put tape along on long side of your mat and only half way long at the top and bottom. I have my mat sideways to show you better. This is going to be a pocket on our page, so you must not tape it all the way around. You also need to make sure when you put it on your page, that the long edge with tape goes near the spine of your book.

DSC_0062

Place your pocket onto your page. It need to be in the middle of your butterfly print (same amount top and bottom), and about ¼ of an inch in from the middle of your page. This means from the right edge of your pocket to the edge of your page you will have about 2 ½ inches. The right edge of your pocket should have no tape on it!

DSC_0071

Use the smaller chipboard clock and ink it black. Find a photo to fit just in the middle of clock and glue it to back of the clock. Use the inner rim of the clock to adhere your photo to.

DSC_0066

Find the two wide pieces left over from your “Shanghai Girls” and tape them together.

DSC_0073

Adhere your clock to your piece of “Shanghai Girls”. Line up the join on your paper with the 12 and 6 on your clock. This will hide the join quite nicely.

DSC_0075

Cut around your chipboard clock.

DSC_0088

Paint your large clock cream. I always use spray paint for mine. Adhere it to the left of your page as shown.

DSC_0090

Add your photo and black clock over the top of the cream one. You will need to use a strong glue for this.

DSC_0080

Your page should look like this.

DSC_0083

From your “Butterfly Specifics”, cut out the following butterflies. You will see that each butterfly is numbered on the sheet. 3, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21, 24, 26, 27, 31, 32, 40, 43, 46, 49. Feel free to cut out any of the other ones you like.

DSC_0093

You can add your butterflies in any order you wish. I used most of my bigger ones at the bottom and my smaller ones at the top. I wanted it to look like the butterflies are landing on the page at the bottom and flying off at the top! Attach each butterfly only in the middle of the body, so you can bend their wings up. Some of them you can layer a smaller butterfly on top of a larger one.

DSC_0222

Now its time to work on your pocket. Ink your words “LOVE, gives, Wings” all black. Again I used a black spray paint. Ink the “flourish” and the word “YOU” with a versa colour Paprika. Glue all the chipboard words to your pocket. Add a small butterfly to finish. I found my pocket was a bit flimsily so I added four blue brads to it. Each brad went through the whole page to adhere the pocket more firmly to my page. I put one in the top left and bottom left corner of my pocket (on the blue print paper). I measured across my pocket (from the left edge) to the 3 inch mark and added another brad, top and bottom. I didn’t want to add a brad to the right corners, as I want to be able to get my tags out.

The blue brads are such a great match that they are hard to see in the photo.

To finish my page I added some more brads. They are not shown in any of the photos as I did them after I had taken all the step by step shots. I put a cream brad in each corner of the “Shanghai Girls” I used the black photo corners to help me place the brad. You can see the cream brads in the finished page photo at the start of the tutorial.

DSC_0112

Now it’s time to make three tags to go into our pocket.

Mini Tags Tutorial

by Jane Tregenza

All artwork, images, instructions and design is copyrighted 2013

Instructions for creating the tags:
Please follow my instructions carefully, as you will need all the left over bits of your print paper and
cardstock.

Remember to ink the edges of all the print pieces, except the black cardstock.
Use some of your left over cardstock to make three tags. They are all the same size. Cut your black cardstock 3 ½ inches wide x 6 inches. You need three of these.

DSC_0105

Cut a piece of “Genuine Article” to 3 ¼ inches x 5 ¾ inches. Ink around the edges and adhere it to your
black cardstock. Punch two large circle out from “Genuine Article”. Adhere one to the front of your tag
and one to the back of your tag. Add a butterfly to the middle of your circle. Just glue the middle of your butterfly down.

DSC_0104

Cut a piece of “Genuine Article” to 3 ¼ inches x 5 ¾ inches. Ink around the edges and adhere it to your
black cardstock tag. Cut a piece of your black cardstock to 2 ¾ inches x 5 inches. Cut a piece of “Race for Time” to 2 5/8 inches x 4 7/8 inches. Adhere it to the middle of your piece of black cardstock. Use four photo corners and adhere it to your “Genuine Article”.

DSC_0108

Use some of your leftover pieces of “Shanghai Girls and Endless Spring”.

Cut a piece of “Endless Spring” to 3 ¼ inches wide by 3 inches high. Adhere it to the bottom of your tag. Cut a piece of “Shanghai Girls” to 3 ¼ inches wide by 2 ¾ inches high.

Adhere the two pieces onto your third tag. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 2 ½ inches x 5 inches.
