We begin with this splendid tag by Denise Hahn. Tags are so much fun to make. You can gather the family around the crafting table and have a fantastic time creating decorative tags together! The adorable images and bright colors of Mother Goose make it the perfect collection for kids! Get inspired by Denise's darling tag creation. Here she explains her inspiration for this jubilant work of art!
"There is no more of an exciting day than getting a new Graphic 45 Collection in the mail! Of course I get to oogle at the previews just like all of you, but there is nothing like having it in your hot little hands. I have a little routine I do when I get the new papers in. I look at each piece quickly- literally flip through them. Inevitably one or two pieces will really just take my breath away, and I whisk those out of the stack. Then I will go through and really savor each piece and let them inspire me. Believe it or not, what caught my eye in the Mother Goose stack was the Checkers! The collection has all of these lovely pastels, but I was just hooked by the graphic quality of the Checkers and how they will pop in my creations. I knew my first project would contain them and I am thrilled with how this tag came out." -Denise Hahn

Next up is this adorable handmade pencil case by Clare. This sweet box was made with chipboard and beautiful Mother Goose papers. This is such a fun project for back to school. It would also make a fabulous gift! You can create this lovely project for someone special in your life! Just follow along with Clare's fun and easy tutorial. You're going to love it! Take it away, Clare!
This is a really simple and practical cheery pencil case that can be dropped into any school bag. It’s made out of 2mm chipboard sections, held together with black card strips all painted with black acrylic paint. The cover was made separate to the box, and once dry stuck onto the cover with Sookwang scor tape. To make one yourself cut out the following pieces out of 2mm chipboard.
Two x 8 ¼” x 4 ¼” and a spine piece 8 ¼” x 1 ¼”
One base piece 8” x 4 “
Two strips 1” x 8”
Two strips 1” x 4”
Cut a few 1” strips of black card stock and score lengthways at ½” .
Cut two 3” x 8 ¼” strips of black card stock for the cover hinge
Stick the cover chipboard spine piece centrally onto one of the 3” black strips. Using a shim (two pieces of chipboard offcuts stuck together) as your spacer stick the front and back cover pieces onto the black card lining up top and bottom edges with spine. Then stick the second black 3” strip of card stock over the top of the spine and cover pieces for strength. Work the joints so the cover folds over itself easily. I used the core’dinations sanding block to get rid of rough edges
Use the black strips to stick the base and side pieces together and then stick black card stock strips of card over the top edges of the box sides for a neat finish. Paint both pieces black.
When dry stick the base to the cover so that it sits centrally on the base of the cover and the flap folds over the top of the box. I used Sookwang scor tape for this.
I used papers from the Mother Goose collection to decorate the pencil case, and then added two large metal door plates to the lid and alphabet stickers from the French Country collection that spell out the work PENCILS. All other pics
The closures are magnetic and added on tabs to the lid before I covered the inside with paper. There are two corresponding magnets hidden under the front strip of paper too. Any closure would work though.
It’s a really easy and fun project that you could get the children to make for themselves before going back to school.

We just want to take a moment to thank Terri and Debbie and the whole Scrapbook n Such crew for hosting such an amazing Graphic 45 event last weekend. Scrapbook n Such were the winners of the first of two grand raffles for an in-store Graphic 45 event. (The next raffle will be held in January.) We taught two workshops and did two hours of make n takes, and we loved every minute of it! Everyone who came out made this an event to remember. Our classes were filled with the kindest, most talented and fun-loving people you could imagine. To end this amazing event we finished off the night with delicious Texas BBQ. Yum!
We hope today's crafts gave you lots of fun ideas for your next project. We want to thank Denise Hahn, Denise Johnson and Clare Charvill for their fabulous work today. We had so much fun getting to share today's crafts with all of you. We have more fun and inspiration planned for your all on tomorrow's blog. We hope you'll come back and see us.
