Card: Miranda shares a fun and clever card using By the Sea. Isn't this such a great idea? A fun way to encourage a friend or family member.

"So many ideas come to mind for altered projects with this amazing collection! But to start, I wanted to create a simple little 'Get Whale' card hehe! I just traced and cut out the shape of the whale ! Super easy! If you don’t trust your drawing , just google whale templates and print one out. I also wanted to create 'water' using a fun technique." -Miranda

Altered Art:Clare makes a warm and lovely project today using By the Sea. The fussy cut pieces framing the photo are the perfect touch. Love this!

"This was such a fun project to put together. I wanted to use the picture of Harry having fun in the waves as the focal point in the box but changed it from a colour to Sepia print before I started. I used a picture frame box with a removable back, painted it with inky pool chalk acrylic and set it aside to dry. While it was drying I took one each of the 12 x 12 papers in the By the Sea collection and chose and cut out the images I wanted to use to give the three dimensional look I was after.

I used My Anchor paper for the back of the box, the borders from By the Sea and strips of Pier 45 around the inner sides. To give height to some of the pieces in the box I used stacks of ¼” square chipboard tiles and a whole load of foam dots.

There’s a glass front to the box that I’ll put in before hanging it on the wall." - Clare

Mini Albums: Denise Hahn makes wonderful mini albums. This Botanical Tea album and altered Book Box is such a great tribute to her family and her time at Winter CHA 2014.

"My Mom is by far my biggest fan. Everything I make is amazing to her and she is always grabbing my projects and asking if she can have them. I figured I would make her something extra special. I mean if she is going to take it anyway, why not make it just for her right? So here I created this Mothers and Daughters Mini Book Box with pictures from our day at CHA with my daughter Marilyn." - Denise Hahn

“I am so excited about Good Ol’s Sport, I can’t stop using it! It’s such a fun, masculine collection and it’s perfect to scrap pages of my boys! This picture was taken at Candlestick park in San Francisco, during one of the last games the 49ers will ever play in this field. The Niners will have a new home in 2014 at Levi Stadium! I used a combination of the 12x12 paper pad, 8x8 paper pad and 6x6 Patterns and Solids to create this page. I also used a few pieces from the coordinating chipboard set, tags and pockets, banners and sticker sheet. Creating is a breeze with the assortment of product Graphic 45 offers, I love it!” ~ Arlene

"Celebration" Layout Tutorial by Romy Veul

Celebration - step 1

Step 1:

Use the ‘Sweet Sentiments’ paper for your background. Punch alongside the edges of the ‘Fauna’ paper with a punch-around-the-page set and attach it on top of the background paper. Cut the ‘Herbal Infusion’ paper at 11x11” and distress the edges. Attach this paper on top of the brown paper.

Celebration - step 2

 Step 2:

Take another sheet of the ‘Herbal Infusion’ paper and trim it at 10,2 x 10,2”. Punch alongside the edges with a different punch-around-the page set and attach it onto the background paper.Take four sheets of the 8x8 Paper Pad and cut them at different sizes. Ink the edges of the papers and make a nice composition with them in the center of your lay-out.

Celebration - step 3

 Step 3:

Take another sheet of the ‘Fauna’ paper and cut it at 6.5 x 6.5”. Place it on top of the other papers. Take a chipboard frame from the chipboard package and adhere it in the right lower corner of the lay-out. Also stick down a doily onto your lay-out on top of the papers.

Celebration - step 4

Step 4:

Cut out two flowers from the ‘Flora’ paper and attach them to your lay-out with foamtape. Also cut out a postcard from the ‘Hello Friend’ paper and attach this on top of the doily with foamtape. Then place the photo in the center of your lay-out.

Celebration - step 5

 Step 5:

Create a cluster of embellishments in the right lower corner of the lay-out by cutting out a rose from the ‘Flora’ paper and by stapling three chipboard frames and a sticker from the Botanical Tea stickers sheet on top of each other.

Celebration - step 6

Step 6:

Also create a cluster of embellishments in the left upper corner of the photo. Cut out a rose from the ‘Flora’ paper and a colibree and two butterflies from the ‘Hello Friend’ paper and attach them to your lay-out with foamtape.

Celebration - step 7

 Step 7:

Finish off your lay-out by adding more fussy cut butterflies, a fussy cut rose and two Staples Ornate Keys.

Celebration

Step 8:

Add pearls to the butterflies and add three chipboard circles as a finishing touch.

Karen Shady's Mother Goose Layout Tutorial

Step-1

1. Cut the frame from the ‘Mother goose paper

Step-2

2. Turn the paper over, and use reverse side of ‘Mother goose’ paper. Adhere both to cardstock backing.

Step-3

3. To create the sun, cut a circle shape from ‘A pocket full of posies’ paper, roughly 14 cm (5.4 inches) diameter. TIP: I have used a die to cut the circle, but, you can use any small round object, such as a plate, a lid or similar.

Step-4

4. Draw and cut out 1 ‘sun ray’, then use that as a guide to cut 5 more, the same size.

Step-5

5. Cut a rectangle to size, from ‘Story time’ paper, and assemble as shown above. Add your photos, and a die cut fence, cut from black cardstock.

Step-6

Step-7

Step-8

6. Fussy cut above images, mount onto foam tape, and adhere, as shown onto layout, along with your choice of flowers, and leaves.

Clare brings the beauty of the sea with this By the Sea layout. Such great fussy cut elements and framing!

"There’s nothing like a cliff walk to blow away the cobwebs, and what better paper collection to capture the memory than By the Sea. I used two of the orange papers for the back ground and then added a mount to the picture and a few cut a-parts to frame it. I couldn’t resist adding the sailing ship on the waves albeit in the shallows lol!" - Clare
