A Fond Graphic 45 Farewell to Arlene Cuevas
What a day here on the blog, we are sending a bittersweet and fond farewell to Arlene Cuevas. She has been on our Design Team the last two years and we are truly in awe of her work. She is such a talented artist and many of you knew her from her popoular YouTube channel before she was a design team member for us. She is a multi-talented lady and we will miss her so much. From her dynamic layouts, cards, and tags to her altered art, there is no mistaking an Arlene project. It will be dynamic, beautifully layered, and perfectly composed. We celebrate Arlene today!

Before we see her projects (most of them unseen before!), let's get reintroduced to the lovely Arlene.
"My name is Arlene Cuevas and I live in the sunny state of California. I’ve been married for 12 years and have 3 amazing little boys ages 5, 9 and 11. During the day, I’m a Business Operations Manager for an internet company. At night, I’m known as “MyButterflykisses” on various crafting social networks.
I’ve always had a passion for creating since I can remember. When I was young, one could always find me on the dining room table working on a new project!
In 1994, I attended my first craft party. Immediately after, I began dabbling in card-making and scrapbook layouts. I was instantly hooked on paper crafting! I found the scrapbooking community on YouTube in 2008 and grew quite fond of creating mini albums and altered art. I also enjoy stamping, Copic coloring, art journaling, and mixed media. I’m in my element when experimenting with and combining new materials on a project. My strengths play on the ability to layer elements and marry unique products together. You’ll often see this in how I design and layer my cards, scrapbook pages and altered pieces. I enjoy expressing my artistic style with various products and designs. I am an active member of the YouTube community where I share tutorials and "how to's" on my YouTube channel "mybutterflykisses12". I also share projects and tutorials on my blog, butterflykisseswithlove.blogspot.com. I am fortunate to design, and have designed, for several scrapbooking companies including the infamous Graphic 45. A crafter’s dream come true!"

It's never too early to start working on holiday cards, and this is a great idea that was unshared this past holiday season.
"Christmas is a very busy time of year for many of us and sometimes finding time to craft can be very stressful. Well, it doesn’t have to be. I use 3 simple techniques when making cards and find that creating with this methodology allows me to make many cards in a short amount of time. 1. Truly, keep it simple. Bells and whistles are nice, but simple is classic. Find “ready to adhere” embellishments in your stash. With Graphic 45’s 12 Days of Christmas, the collection comes with many “ready to use” embellishments to keep creating stress free! 2. Use layers. Layering adds dimension and depth to your design. Layer 3 different design papers, each one slightly larger than the other. Tuck in a doily from your stash. Add a tag from the Chipboard set. Easy, right? 3. Finally, ink or distress the edges of your design paper. This gives your design a “finished” look and it doesn’t take much time to do. Create time for this card: 25 minutes. Hope you give one of these easy-to-make cards a try! ~Arlene
What a beautiful touch with the Ornate Metal Key and Antique Metal Door Pull. Also love the beautiful texture and berries she added on this card. What a show-stopping detail! Arlene always finds those dynamic details to add to her projects.

“I’m having a great time playing with the Bohemian Bazaar papers. The colors are festive and fun and are the perfect companion for your summer projects! I love to fussy cut elements for my projects and Graphic 45 never disappoints. There are so many gorgeous images throughout this paper collection, the ideas and possibilities with all the elements are endless! There are also so many unique ways to incorporate the Metal Staples onto your project. Here, I turned the Ornate Metal Label Holder upside down and topped it with some Petaloo flowers. The “tail” of my tag has an array of Staples including the Ornate Metal Keys, Ornate Metal Keyhole and Metal Butterfly.” ~Arlene Cuevas

“I created this simple card for my parent’s 44th wedding anniversary on January 10th. Creating a card doesn’t have to be time intensive. Simple elements from the Botanical Tea paper collection, such as the 4x6 label makes layering easy. The papers are so beautiful, keeping it simple allows the design of the papers to speak through. I’m really loving the sentiments included in this collection, especially on the “Just Because” papers. The sentiments are perfect for cards and scrapbooking!” ~Arlene
