A Fond Graphic 45 Farewell to Maria Cole
Maria Cole is such a talented designer. Her vibrant creations bursting with heart truly make our day every time we get to see them. She comes up with such clever ideas and wonderful altered projects. She is a truly gifted designer and we will miss her so much on our team! She definitely designs with passion and elegance and we love her wonderful work. Let's get to know Maria again today in this great post full of new projects and highlights from her time with us!
"My papercrafting journey began in April 2011. Back then, I was going through some hard times. On a whim one day, I decided to check out Paper Mermaids in Newport, Oregon. Let me tell you, that day changed my life! My eyes were instantly drawn to a beautiful mini album made with Graphic 45’s On The Boardwalk line. I was mesmerized by the details, rich colors, vintage designs, and how creative the entire piece was. Before this, papercrafting and scrapbooking were foreign words to me. Suddenly, I became obsessed with how artistic scrapbooking had become—and I wanted in.
Experimenting with papercrafting brought me so much joy and it restored my hope. It gave me something to put my whole heart into, something to get lost in, and something to bless others with.
I have loved Graphic 45 from the start and I truly feel like I am my most creative when I’m making something with G45 products. I love decorating the Staples albums and altered boxes with Graphic 45’s beautiful paper, as well as making my own albums using chipboard and upcycled pieces around the house. The transformation from plain tan kraft to a magnificent masterpiece is one I always strive for!
The scrapbook store I found allowed me to design a couple projects. However, life changed course soon after, and my husband and I found ourselves in the greater Seattle area in 2012. The paper fiend that I am, the first thing I looked for was the nearest scrapbooking store: The Mad Scrapper. I’ve been truly blessed to be a regular teacher there for over a year now, and have reveled at the chance to design class projects with the latest Graphic 45 products. Teaching has truly helped stretch my imagination and teaching abilities, and I am incredibly honored and over-the-moon to be teaching as a Graphic 45 Design Team member!
I love pretty and feminine styles, lots of flowers, and imaginative yet practical designs. My hope is to help inspire the Graphic 45 community with my projects and to encourage crafters of all levels to design with their whole heart—and to continue spreading the joy of papercrafting!" ~Maria
This Botanical Tea tag album below will absolutely brighten your day. She uses fabulous techniques and embellishments throughout to really create a standout project!
"I was so inspired by the various birds and flowers, that I wanted to do a project that felt very much like a botanical garden. I immediately thought of a birdcage – then realized that the regular ivory tag album is shaped quite like one! To create my “cage” design, I drew (4) ¾” x 4” rectangles on two of my tags, then cut the rectangles out. After that, I adhered my birdcage covers to my lovely stash of Botanical Tea paper for a more life-like feel! Inside my album, there’s room for photos or other fun momentos." ~Maria
What a great idea to add another page by creating pages that flip open in clever ways. How beautiful!
Her fussy cut flowers throughout this mini album add so much to this gorgeous creation!

Maria can make any color palette and collection shine, just like she does below with her amazing Good ol' Sport tag banner album! This is such a fun, handsome, brilliant project.
"Good Ol’ Sport is the handsomest masculine paper we’ve all been waiting for! I love all the vintage sports designs and how so many different sports are portrayed. One of the littlest details about these papers actually inspired the shape of my mini album! I love all the little pennant images and thought it would be fun to cut my large tag album into pennant-like shapes. On one side is the 'album'; the other side can be used as a garland to hang in your favorite hero’s room!" ~Maria
What is really great about this project is that Maria really just used images and fussy cut papers from the collection and made a knock-out mini album! What a perfect project to try, G45ers!

We love how Maria used Petaloo flowers on this beautiful Bohemian Bazaar tag below. Don't you love this? Perfect colors for our G45ers heading into summertime!
"Graphic 45 challenged us to make an upside down tag using the colorful Bohemian Bazaar line. I’ve been so in love with cherry tomato red lately, that I knew I had to use Dazzling Delights as the base color for my tag. This paper line has so many intricate patterns, so I wanted to make sure to bring some of them out. I fussy cut two different patterns from Mystical Masterpiece and used some ZVA Crystals to accent them. To embellish my tag, I used some pretty Petaloo flowers, Ice Stickles, and Graphic 45’s matching chipboard. I love the whole red/teal color combination and I hope it shows in this tag!" ~Maria

This Typography card from Maria has a great printable tutorial below never shared. What a gorgeous card you can try yourself!
"Once you get your hands on Typography, you will be so amazed at all the inspirational quotes! I was so intrigued by the uplifting words, that I wanted to make a simple and easy encouragement card. This project would be perfect for the friend who needs some extra sunshine, or the spouse who just started a new job, as in my case! You can add more fussy cutting and embellishments if you like, or leave as-is for a simple yet sophisticated look. I also created a little 'belt' closure in the front, so that all the quotes and other kind messages you leave will always be there for safekeeping."~Maria

It's never too early to start creating for the holidays! This creative and gorgeous Twelve Days of Christmas "Be Merry" banner garland has a printable tutorial linked below. Make sure to check it out!
"Who doesn’t love decorating for Christmas?? I had a blast creating this lovely tag garland using Graphic 45’s 12 Days of Christmas and regular tag album! My original idea began with a tag album, but something inside of me wanted to create a bigger project to really welcome in the Christmas spirit! You’ll notice that there are 8 tags total. Even though the tag album comes with 6 tags, you can always use one as a template to create additional tags! Finally, I dressed up my tags with some gorgeous Petaloo flowers and fun little diamond pendants that I found after teaching a class at The Bee Hive in Toledo, Oregon. The beauty of tag garlands is that you can make them all your own – whether it’s adding more embellishments or changing up the papers! Have fun and don’t forget to Be Merry!" ~Maria
