Ginger Ropp Shares How to Stay Creative
Today, we get to know the brilliant Ginger Ropp! She has an awesome YouTube channel filled with awesome mini albums and more. Today, you get a closer look at her love for crafting. What an amazing time getting to know Ginger!
An Interview with Ginger Ropp
1. Why do you craft?
I have always been a crafty person. I remember as a child my grandmother crocheted the most beautiful lace doilies. I so wanted to learn how to crochet so my grandmother taught me how to do a chain stitch at a very young age. I loved taking that simple ball of string and making something fun out of it. I guess I just enjoy the process of creating. From the very beginning to the finished project.
2. What do you feel is your crafting forte?
I absolutely love all kinds of paper crafts but I have to say that I really enjoy creating mini albums. I mean I really enjoy making them. I love how you can use a mini album for a special event. They can have a theme to them and they make great gifts. Since I became a grandmother I have created lots of mini albums for my grandchildren.
3. What inspires and motivates you to be creative?
Inspiration is everywhere. I love seeing beautiful papers and embellishments. I like taking something that has a specific purpose and seeing if I can use it in a different way. For example, making a mini album out of coffee sleeves from the coffee shop or using small sized paper bags to create a project.
4. What do you do with your projects once they're complete?
A lot of my mini albums are given as gifts. I’ve donated some to charitable events and I also have given some away as Thank You’s on my blog and youtube channel. I have 4 sisters and 2 brothers so I have a big family. They are the beneficiaries of quite a few of my projects.
5. What is the funniest craft disaster you've ever had?
I have had many funny craft disasters. I recently glued my fingers together with glossy accents, but probably the one that I still can’t believe I did was the time I was at a scrapbooking retreat. I was busy working on a mini album project. I had just gotten my Ranger craft mat out so I could do some inking of my pages. After all of the pages were inked I just started attaching some of the papers down. I had a few chipboard pieces that I wanted to cover with the papers so I glued them down then flipped them over to trim off the excess paper around the chipboard with my craft knife. I got it all trimmed up and it looked really good. Until I remembered that I still was working on my Ranger craft mat. Needless to say it was shredded. Lol! Everyone at the retreat had a good laugh.
You are a mini master! What great ideas. Thanks for sharing with us, Ginger!
