We can't believe it's already the last day of 2016 Design Team introductions! We have an amazing artist closing out our warm welcomes to the Design Team. Alexandra Morein from Singapore has such a knack for unique altered art in incredible geometric shapes! You will love all the work she has to share with us today. Prepare to leave inspired! Let's let Alexandra introduce herself, and don't forget to stay until the end of the blog to see who won this week's blog contest!

Alexandra b&w

"Hello dear Graphic 45 fans!

My name is Alexandra, I’m 36, a happily married wife and a mother of 2 little girls.

I was born in Ukraine, but at the age of 20 moved with my family to Israel.  In 2013 my husband got a job in Singapore, to where we relocated and have been living until now.

I guess that my ‘creative career’ started here, in Singapore, where I turned to a housewife and could devote myself to family, kids and crafting. For that I’m extremely thankful to my dear husband, who always supports and encourages me.

I love to create boxes of different shapes and styles, they have been my love since I can remember myself and since I learned to hold scissors and use glue. I enjoy the process of constructing from paper, it’s a true magic when out of plain & flat sheets of chipboard come out dimensional things. And it’s better for them to be functional too, right!?

I hope you will enjoy my projects and find them inspiring.

I chose a few favorite projects of mi ne created with the papers From Graphic 45, which I would like to share with you today:

The first one is a suitcase mini album, created with the Graphic 45 Kraft Reflections collection. The structure of the mini album is rather simple - I used envelopes for creating the pages and added craft card stock for the photo mats. The ‘Kraft Reflections’ collection must be one of my favorites, its vintage look and feel are captivating.

The third, is a project created for the final round of the Graphic 45 design team audition – a trunk with a mini album and a stamp holder, kept in the bottom drawer. I was inspired to create this project by one of my father’s vintage stamp holders, which I so liked to flip through when I was a little girl.

To finish off this presentation, I have a new project to share with you – it’s a desk stationery organizer, created with the colorful and beautiful “Enchanted Forest” collection. The organizer has a compartment for post-it notes, a drawer for an eraser, paper clips or other small stuff, as well as an additional compartment for holding pens or a notebook (like the one that you see at the pictures below).

I created this desk stationery organizer for my craft room using the Enchanted Forest paper collection. Besides the compartment for the post-it notes and a drawer for the paper clips, I wanted to add pen holders to the sides, but the initial design has undergone some changes and here is the outcome:

Tip 1:

When working on a 3d project, prepare the hinge strips ahead of time, and cut them down to the needed size while working.

Tip 2:

Don’t glue anything down until you are perfectly sure that it fits in size.

Tips 3:

The more details - the better. Use your scraps to cut out even more elements for finishing off and embellishing your project.
