Mardi Gras with Midnight Masquerade!
We are so excited to continue sharing our designers amazing projects with our brand new (in stores this month!) collections! Today, Sandy Trefger shares an amazing Square Tag Album using Midnight Masquerade. First, Charee Filimoehala gives us a great tour with Scrapbook.com of this amazing new collection. Now, see this collection in action with this gorgeous album from Sandy!
"As soon as I saw Graphic 45’s Midnight Masquerade paper collection, I thought of Mardi Gras! While I’ve never been to New Orleans during their Mardi Gras, I have been several times and love the celebratory air about the city. I decided to use the Grahpic 45 Square Tag Album to create a Mardi Gras project. Of course, I needed a mask for my front cover and that was easily done with one of the beautiful papers from the collection and my cutting machine. I handmade all the flowers which I think really gave this project an individual and unique look. The purple Mardi Gras beads were added to the cover because my husband insisted that a Mardi Gras album must have a chain of Mardi Gras beads!" ~Sandy
Tip: If you find that you don’t have ribbon in the exact color that you need to compliment the papers you are using for a project, always look to white seam binding ribbon to solve your problem. It’s so easy to take a cut off piece of the ribbon, apply ink in the color you want on to your craft mat, spritz it with water or a clear spray and then smoosh your ribbon into the ink. Make sure you get good coverage on the ribbon then squeeze out any excess and allow your ribbon to dry completely before tying it into a bow. You can help speed up the drying process by using a heat gun or hair dryer.
Tip: If you have a paper element that’s too big or too long for your cover, simply curl up opposite corners of the cut out or tag and place it at an angle so that only a minimal amount sticks out over the edge of the album.
