A Big Announcement about our 2017 Design Team!

  Graphic 45 brand ambassadors 2017 header 2

Hi G45ers!

We have some big and exciting news today! You may have noticed we have not posted our Design Team call this year. Well, we have an exciting reason why! We are changing things up a bit here at Graphic 45 with the blog, Instagram, Facebook, and social media.   One of those changes is that our Design Team is returning for another term! Since we had so many new designers last year, our team let us know they were going to audition for another term and since there were 13 of them - we wanted to celebrate their incredible work for another year here at Graphic 45!

Some of the fun changes for 2017 are changing our Design Team name to Graphic 45 Brand Ambassadors, adding more fun and short videos, monthly craft studio tours, more Facebook Live videos, and more G45er features!  We would also love to hear from you.  What would you like to see more of?  What type of projects, content, tips, anything at all, we want to know.

We know you may have some questions, so here’s some things we can let you know:

  • Yes, we will have a Design Team call in 2018! This isn’t a forever change, just the best decision for us this year.
  • This gives you a whole year to get your blog together,  add some great projects made and more so that you’ll be ready for the 2018 Design Team Call!
  • Want to be featured on Graphic 45’s social media channels? We feature our G45ers work once a week on Facebook (our G45er of the Week!) and regram on Instagram.
  • Do you want free product? We have contests EVERY SINGLE WEEK here on the Graphic 45 blog, Facebook, and offer tons of other ways to win each and every month.

A Thursday Full of Amazing Albums!

Album Secret Garden by Elena Olinevich product by Graphic45 photo9

We always love to see what amazing album ideas our designers come up with next! Well, today, we have two gorgeous album ideas from Elena Olinevich and Maggi Harding. Elena shows you a complete and gorgeous Secret Garden album. Then, Maggi shares how to make a gorgeous album cover from start to finish using our new Rectangle Tag & Pocket Album! Let's take a look at these gorgeous albums:

Album Secret Garden by Elena Olinevich product by Graphic45 photo9

"I like creating albums, and not mini albums, but something more of a large size.

However it may happen that you’ve run all of your papers and I would like to share some of my tips how to extend the papers and how to create albums.

First try to combine papers for one page and even for one spread. You can decide to use the full sheet for one page, but actually you can use some scraps or leftovers that you’ve gut after cutting a few pages . It’s better if they have the same height, meanwhile you can mix them on a width.

You don’t need to have many of the embellishments if you have such beautiful papers as G45. I highly recommend you to start cutting some images or flowers from them. You don’t need to be addicted to fussy cutting, but actually you can save on adding the fabric or paper flowers.

What I would suggest to make you cut out embellishments not to be plane and to have a dimension - is to use the foam pads or small cardboard pieces to pop up on the background. In that case you will get the layered pieces and they will stand out .

G45 papers are mostly busy, and you can challenge yourself how to mix them so that they could match perfectly.

So - pay attention to the Patterns and Solids Packs. Also you can add some color cardstock pieces, with no busy background.

I like adding die cuts to my projects. Of course , if you don’t have the die cutting machine, you still can create the wonderful things with your scissors or ready die cuts from the same collection. However such kind of dies as frames, scalloped borders are perfect for vintage papers.

If there are cards or tags in the collection, you can cut out the frame and use the inserted part for the other page or even at the same page just putting it aside from the cut frame.

You can even use the pieces with the name of the papers, they all have amazing names.

I hope that my tips were interesting to read and you will fall into the papercrafting as I have done for the past several years." ~Elena

"I'll be at a retreat later this year and I've asked all the participants to swap a page for my mini with me.  Won't that be just so fun and I think I'll have the best mini ever with all that talent in one book from so many people!  I used  the Times Nouveau DCE for my cover and I think the image of the classy ladies is perfect.  I have a "thing" for all the G45 buttons so I've used that as part of my cover too.

I've recorded a video for you of how I made my cover and I'm sharing some inking tips.  I'll also show you how to make your cover more durable, line up your letters, and the easy way to glue embellishments so they stay where you want them." ~Maggi

Layouts with New Graphic 45 Collections!

Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood Layout by Pam Bray Photo 6_4384

Happy Monday! You, our G45ers always say you love seeing more layouts. So, we have a blog full of them today! Pam Bray and Kathy Clement use Vintage Hollywood and Portrait of a Lady to make these stunning pages. Take a look at these below:

Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood Layout by Pam Bray Photo 6_4384

“When I first seen the Vintage Hollywood Collection I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Epherema Card that said “Shine Bright Like a Diamond”. I knew I need to create a layout using the Epherema Card which I will frame for my studio. It is so inspiring to remember that we are all diamonds, some rougher than others but all being molded each day through trials and challenges. We just need a reminder to always need to let out “diamond” shine.” Hugs Pam

Elegant Lady Layout CHA Portrait of a Lady by Kathy Clement Product by Graphic 45 Photo 5

"The minute I laid eyes on Portrait of a Lady, I knew I would be creating a project featuring this vintage photo of my mom.  This is her graduation portrait, taken in 1939, and I love to see the bright smile, compassionate eyes and hopeful expression that this photo captures.  She loved her flower gardens, and I can still see her coaxing them to grow and blossom in spite of the hard clay soil.  Pink was her favorite color, so she would have loved the beautiful images and patterns in this gorgeous collection." ~Kathy

Elegant Lady Layout CHA Portrait of a Lady by Kathy Clement Product by Graphic 45 Photo 5

Tip: To make my dimensional picture frame, I first die cut a cardboard base from an old shipping box.  Then I die cut the top layer from designer paper and glued it over the top, inking the edges to add definition.

Tip: Tear paper to create interesting borders.  Tear the paper away from you to avoid having a white edge.  Ink the torn edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink to help them stand out.

Tip: Add a personal touch to your layout by including journaling in your own handwriting.  It makes the piece that much more precious.

Tip: Add dimension to your layout by backing individual layers with foam dimensionals.
