4 Creative DIY Cards for Weddings and Parties
Hello, G45ers!
We are back with more vibrant Spring inspiration. First, Kathy Clement dazzles us with an exquisite Midnight Masquerade card that really pops. 3D effects and precise fussy cutting make this the perfect piece to display for celebrations of all kinds or as a daily reminder to savor life & all its magic. Next, Elena Olinevich shares three fantastic Time to Celebrate cards, just in time for wedding season. We love the elegance and simplicity of these cards and the combination of the floral printed papers with the Prima flowers. Check it all out below, but first, it is time to announce two special Graphic 45 National Scrapbook Day contest winners...
Martie Rollin: "Home Sweet Home remains my favorite collection! Memories of growing up in a small town in the Midwest... canning jars full of homegrown produce from my father's garden, laundry and diapers flapping in the breeze, sewing aprons for my sisters... the images and colors are wonderful!"
Janine Underhill: "Off to the Races. What can I say, the colours, graphics "ladies in wonderful hats" and horses. Win win! Makes 4 cards from this collection for National Scrapbook Day. Thank you Graphic 45."
Martie and Janine, please email info@g45papers.com to claim your prizes from the vault. Big thanks to all entered in this fun contest. We had a blast reading each of your comments and have some great ideas for Deluxe Collector's Editions in the future.
Midnight Masquerade Bendi Table Top Card
By Kathy Clement
"Do you ever use your gorgeous G45 papers to create party centerpieces? I made this Magical Midnight Masquerade Bendi Card Centerpiece with parties in mind! If you're hosting a prom party, a graduation party, birthday party or even a bridal shower, I think this vibrant and whimsical design would make an amazing table topper and be a real conversation starter!
The signature image in the Midnight Masquerade collection inspired me: I wanted to display that ball gown in a 3-D kind of way. So I went to work and came up with this modified Bendi card design.
Measuring 8.5” x 5”, I had all the room I needed for layering the lavish images from this fun and whimsical collection. The fact that the card stands all on its own makes it the perfect centerpiece for Mardi Gras." ~Kathy Clement
Tips:
-
To create the rounded ball gown, I gently shaped the skirt with the edge of my ruler. When the paper began to curl, I glued just the outside edges to the base, pushing them toward the center. Hold in place for a few seconds until the glue dries.
-
Use extra heavy cardstock for your card base so that it will hold up under the weight of the designer paper.
-
Layer fussy cut flowers with dimensional flowers for extra fullness.
-
Add height to your creation by layering the fussy cut sentiment at the very top of the card base.

Wedding Cards by Elena Olinevich
"Wedding season is coming-beautiful dresses, many flowers, so many happy faces. Sometimes, all you can do is create a beautiful wedding card or a wedding gift envelope. I like creating cards, and sometimes they can be a part of the main gift for the newlyweds.
Time to Celebrate collection is one of my favorites, and it’s easy to create any project with it, whether it is an anniversary, wedding or any special occasion.
I like the colors it has, and I guess it’s quite feminine, perfect for a wedding.
I made 3 cards, 2 of them are mostly in soft colors, for a wedding, and the third one can be used for any occasion.
This time I tried a new shape, a long rectangle. I like how it turned out." ~Elena Olinevich
