"What a thrill it is to be working with the team at Graphic 45 again. As most of us do, I have a love of all things Graphic 45. I was asked to work with three of their amazing collections: Halloween in Wonderland; Rare Oddities; Communique.
It’s no secret among my friends that I adore mini-books. And there are so many ways to use Graphic 45 in minis that I felt compelled to make another ; ) This mini was created from scratch using chipboard, Halloween in Wonderland Deluxe Collector’s Edition and Graphic 45 fabric (found online at a fabric store!).
Layering, fussy cutting and Stickles were used on the cover. For the inside pages, I used Graphic 45’s Square Policy Envelopes. This not only gave me plenty of space on the outside, but also created roomy pockets to store photos and journaling.
Using a paper hinge, a tag was attached to the bottom of this page. A belly-band on the top of the tag (with the help of Alice) holds additional tags. Swing the Cheshire Cat chipboard tag to the left and the tag opens to reveal another pocket and more mini-tags.
Another page in this mini has a dual purpose. The *tea party* is a side pocket that holds a tag.
But it’s also a flip. The other side of the flip has another pocket. The hand insures the tag stays in the pocket, whether right side up or upside down. The fingers on the hand are not glued down so the Footman can be easily removed. And on the envelope, another tea party pocket holding more G45 goodies.
Oh how I love Rare Odities!
I began this project with Graphic 45’s Kraft Book Box. The tags are included, although I added more from the Regular Tag Album and Alpha Banners. Lots of fussy cutting and layering on the front of the Kraft Box, adding even more bottles.
A Graphic 45 Metal Brad is used on the spine with tags hanging from a chain.
I combined a Graphic 45 brad and chipboard button with a piece of string for the closure.
And on the inside . . .
a Halloween banner ready for the mantle.
The 5.5” x 5.5” Graphic 45 Square Tag and Pocket Album is already decorated with black butterflies. The inside of the album contains pages, pockets and 5” x 5” tags, all ready to decorate.
Using Graphic 45’s Communique Collector’s Edition, a pair of antique spectacles and a dimensional chipboard box from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, the pieces were popped up to add height to the cover.
Interactive pages can be created with top and side flips and magnets.. Cut and score paper hinges and apply to two corresponding pages to create even more pockets. *Stuff* pockets with handmade tags, tiny stitched mini-books and journaling ATC’s.
I made this side flip by first cutting and scoring a paper hinge. Then applied the hinge to one of the Graphic 45 tags included with the mini-book.. Another side pocket was added to the front of the tag. A string was tied around the eyelet in the tag and then attached to a Graphic 45 brad and button in the upper corner of the main page. When the string is untied, the tag will flip open, creating more space for photos or journaling.
Using the Graphic 45 Alpha Banners was an easy addition throughout the book. I matched a word with the banner letter to add more interest to a pocket page. The words came from the included alphabet sticker sheet in the Collector’s Addition.
What a fun project this was to work on.
Here’s a few other images of workshops I’ve taught recently with Graphic 45 papers and embellishments:
This Halloween tin combines Graphic 45 with Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chipboard:
Another mini I’m teaching with Graphic 45’s Safari Adventure and Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts chipboard. This is a made-from-scratch book where we will be building our own covers, pages and binding with many interactive pages included.
Each month I teach a class at Checkered Cottage in Kirkwood MO that features Graphic 45’s calendar papers. This year we’re using Children’s Hour:
