Joanne uses white space and color so dynamically. This layout is absolutely incredible!

Watercolour-Layout -Communique -JoanneBain -product-by-Graphic-45 -Photo-1

"I love a lot of white space on my layouts so it draws the eye straight to the main cluster focusing on my photos. To create my main cluster I fussy cut a lot of pens from the Pen In Hand patterned paper and then just started layering them until I was happy. The background of the cluster was created with watercolour paints and a text stencil. I chose to use the Communique collection because a lot of the papers in the collection are neutral colour tones making it easy to mix with other colours." ~Joanne

Card Midnight Mawquerade Maggi Harding Graphic 45 (2)

We hear from our G45ers that you love card ideas because there is always occasion for a card, isn't that right? Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, invitations, condolences - many times these all require thoughtful cards.  Our designers share gorgeous ideas with us today for all your card-making needs. Maggi Harding makes a stunning card with Midnight Masquerade. And Elena Olinevich shares the most gorgeous set of Spring cards! Looking for card ideas? We have them for you today right here!

Card Midnight Mawquerade Maggi Harding Graphic 45 (2)

"I love step cards, I just think they look so pretty standing up the way they do!  This one is pretty simple, I just used a cut-apart from Midnight Masquerade in the center and then added some strips from design paper.  Inside the card, I added a journaling cut-apart and again, used strips from design paper on either side of the cut-apart." ~Maggi

Tip:  Sometimes, simple is good and it can be a bold statement.  Don't be afraid to use a simple image as the focal point embellished with a flower or trim.  I am guilty of over thinking my projects, and I have a tendency to keep piling on the "stuff", then I say to myself, "Maggi, simple is good, leave it alone!"

Elena shares the beauty of Spring with these gorgeous Secret Garden cards!

Spring Cards Secret Garden by Elena Olinevich product by Graphic45 photo7

"The most longing time for me is an awaiting for the Spring Season. After a long winter time, with no sun, dull and frosty weather I feel such a hunger for the warmth and the sunshine.

That’s why each late January - early February I start creating tons of Spring and Floral cards. I guess it helps me to feel it more close to me.

This time I created 3 cards from the same collection - Secret Garden. It is really so so beautiful, that it makes your creating process smooth and pleasant.

It has so many flowers that you don’t really need to add any embellishments at all.

I enjoy fussy cutting therapy each and every time I take Graphic45 papers.

What I would suggest is to try absolutely different color combinations even if you are making a set of cards. It will help you to try different paper variations. and what is more important is to - enjoy the process and to feel the sunshine coming from the papers." ~Elena

There are Many Ideas with Nature Sketchbook!

Accessorize with Graphic 45 Brooch Nature Sketchbook by Kathy Clement Product by Graphic 45 Photo 2

Spring is such a gorgeous reminder of the beauty of nature! The birds build their nests, the flowers bloom, and the crafting mojo returns after a long winter! Today, Kathy Clement and Katelyn Grosart give great inspiration for that crafting mojo. These are such fabulous ideas for National Craft Month! See a beautiful brooch and gift box from Kathy below:

"If you are like me, you love Graphic 45 Ornate Metal Staples.  We all know how much great texture and dimension they add to a layout, card or mixed media project.  But have you ever thought of using them to create jewelry?  With Nature’s Sketchbook papers, chipboard and flowers, a little imagination and some clever paper crafting techniques, I created a lovely brooch that can be used to accessorize scarves, hats and clothing." ~Kathy

Tips

NOTE: Melted UTEE is extremely hot and will burn skin if safety precautions are not used.  Never touch it when melted and be sure to use tweezers when dipping and removing items into UTEE.  Keep the hot pot away from children and pets.

  1. Mist Nature Sketchbook flowers lightly with water before shaping.  This will break down the starch in the paper and make them easier to shape.  It will also cause them to hold their shape once they are dry. Use this same technique to shape the butterfly wings.
  2. Let the flowers/butterflies dry completely before dipping into the UTEE.
  3. I melted UTEE in a Melt Pot then dipped each flower layer in it.  Use tweezers so you don’t burn your fingers. Let the excess UTEE drip into the melt pot, then set the layers on a non-stick craft sheet to cool. Use hot glue to glue the layers together.
  4. Decorative Chipboard makes a great base for your brooch.  Dip it in UTEE to strengthen it.  Attach pin bale to the back with Glossy Accents. I also used Glossy Accents to secure the door plate to the front of the chipboard.  You can hold it in place with binder clips until the glue sets.
  5. Paint metal staples with a base coat of white paint then tap with alcohol inks to alter their appearance.
  6. Fill flower centers with the door knob, seed beads or items from your jewelry box.
  7. Cover a Staples Matchbox with coordinating papers for gift presentation.  To keep the brooch from sliding around inside the box, pin it to a die cut piece of felt.

Just Because Card Set Nature Sketcbook By Katleyn Grosart Product By Graphic 45 Photo 2

"I’m ready for winter to be over and spring to arrive, so I pulled out the fabulous Nature Sketchbook collection to create a beautiful set of Just Because cards. I love to create card sets with no specific themes so in case I need a card set in a hurry I have one or two ready to be gifted to that special someone."    ~Katelyn

Perfection with Portrait of a Lady

Romantic Cards Portrait of a Lady by Sandy Trefger Product by Graphic 45 Photo 001

Have you picked up our new Graphic 45 collections yet? Portrait of a Lady, Midnight Masquerade, and Vintage Hollywood are now in stores and ready for you to create with them! Today, Sandy Trefger and Pam Bray share stunning ideas with Portrait of a Lady! We love how many projects you can make with this gorgeous collection! First, Sandy shares a brilliant card set with us.

Romantic Cards Portrait of a Lady by Sandy Trefger Product by Graphic 45 Photo 001

"I love pretty, romantic handmade cards that can be used for almost any occasion.  The amazingly gorgeous Graphic 45 paper collection Portrait of a Lady gives you so many ways to make a set of romantic cards.  Wouldn’t these be perfect for Valentine’s Day, and anniversary or just a thinking of you card.  I used three different folding techniques to create these cards—drapery fold, accordion fold and triple fold.  I like to leave my cards blank with no sentiment so they are ready for me to use for any occasion." ~Sandy

Tip: Enhance the papers you are using on your cards with ribbons & flowers that closely match the color palette of the paper. Also inking the edges of each section pulls it all together especially if you use the vintage Decades inks from Graphic 45.  My favorite to enhance their beautiful papers is the Dark Cashmere (brown) color.

“Women wish to be loved without a why or wherefore” Don’t you love this thought, I do! At times one journal block can say a thousand words. Graphic 45 Portrait Of A Lady has several journal blocks that do just that. I love the ease of how a layout can come together for the ladies in our lives or even for us.” ~Pam

Now, Maggi gets us ready for the Masquerade with this magical mask!

Mask Midnight Masquerade Maggi Harding Graphic 45 (1)

"What better use for the bold new Midnight Masquerade collection than a Mardi Gras mask that I got in Louisiana a couple years ago?   I started with a 12 x 12 canvas and, using the reverse side, I covered it all with design paper.  That made a nice frame for my mask.

To make the mask, I tore up little pieces of paper and applied using matte medium.  This was not difficult, but it does take some time and patience!  After the mask dried I diecut some flourishes that I thought would add color and design to the mask, again using matte medium as my glue.  After the mask dried overnight, I added rhinestones and Stickles  to glam it up!" ~Maggi

Mask Midnight Masquerade Maggi Harding Graphic 45 (1)

Tip: Because Graphic 45's paper is such a nice weight, you need to use small paper pieces, when covering the mask, in order to get the paper to mold around the curves of the mask.

Mask Midnight Masquerade Maggi Harding Graphic 45 (1)

Tip: I didn't like the stark white paper tear lines showing on my mask. There are two ways to deal with that.  1) You could ink the paper pieces before applying but that took more time than I had to give, so, I wnet with option 2) I inked over the mask after the matte medium had dried.
