Altered Art With An ABC Primer!

Hello G45ers!

We're wishing you the very happiest of Mondays! Thank you all for joining us on this fabulous day. We have some gorgeous crafts to share with you today along with a new blog contest! It's going to be superb! Robin Shakoor and Melanie Forbes of our design team have created the most stunning crafts with our collection An ABC Primer. There's even a fun tutorial by Melanie Forbes! Yes, today is going to be a lot of fun. Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner we thought we'd gear this week's blog contest towards the idea of being grateful. There are so many things to be grateful for this year. Here at Graphic 45 we're grateful for another fantastic year of creativity, inspiration, and togetherness. We are so happy to have such a vibrant and wonderful crafting community that continue to inspire us with new ideas. This week we're asking you to leave us a comment letting us know about something that you're grateful for. You can leave your comments on our blog or Facebook page any time this week. A random winner will be chosen from the comments and announced this Friday, November 18th. You could win An ABC Primer 12x12 Paper Pad, Metal Hinges, 5x5 Altered Art Box and Alphabet Sticker Staples! Wow!

This first fabulous craft was created by Robin Shakoor. It's a beautiful altered photo shadowbox tray that you are going to adore! This has all the elegance and classic style that Robin is known for! You can feel the love emanating from this wonderful work of art! Here is what Robin had to say about this fabulous creation!

"I can't think of a better way to showcase photos and embellishments than in a photo shadowbox tray.  I used this 7 Gypsies tray to display my daughter's elementary school photos adorned with the An ABC Primer collection.  I used various Graphic 45 staples to give texture and dimension to each section of my tray.  I made the ornate metal door plate my focal point and layered it with a velvet flower, metal flower, die cuts and twine.  Try mixing metal with your papers and flowers on your next project.  You will be amazed at what you can create." -Robin Shakoor

Due to the flu my brain was not in a creative mood when I sat down to create this months projects so I decided to keep it simple and demonstrate something that you can all do very easily!

Tissue box

I kept the Kleenex tissue box as I thought it would be perfect for holding all my paintbrushes in. Simply cut 2 rectangles to fit either side and then attach your “feature” block to each side before tying some twine and a tag on it. I used foam dots to highlight the feature block.

Cover TB with paper

Pencil Case

Simply measure each side and cut out selected papers to fit. Due to the bend in the lid I have used Mod Podge as a glue/sealer to attach the paper to the pencil case. Remember to INK all your edges for a more professional finish.

Lastly Trinket box

Recycled from a Prima Naturally daisy container I simply painted it all black to match in with my other pieces in this set. Then once again used modpodge as a glue sealer to attach all the paper inside and out. A few embellishments were then added to the corner just to finish it off

Easy projects but the attention to detail is what will make them stand out.
Make sure you INK every single edge of cut paper including tags, flowers, chipboard.
Ensure patterns or words on paper are the correct way “up” when looking at your projects.
Bend or shape paper flowers (and metal ones) to make them appear more life like.

Thank you all so much for joining us today. And big thanks to Robin Shakoor and Melanie Forbes for their amazing creations. We look forward to reading all of your blog and Facebook comments this week. We hope you have a marvelous Monday!

Happy Papercrafting!

Robin....Great work! The shadowbox tray is probably the most stunning I have ever seen! The tissue box idea I will have to scraplift! I finally have an excuse to spend that much on one of those cute tissue boxes!

Love the projects. The pencil box shape reminded me that I have been hoarding this treasure chest shaped boxed for years and I should do something with it

I love being creative but I have to say I am so very grateful for the truly talented to inspire me every day. And that photo tray is amazing!

I am grateful for the opportunity my children give us to be so much a part of our grandson's lives. Our 6th grandson is due any day now. I feel pure joy when the oldest at 14 say's how glad he is to have an artist Nana who can help him with his school projects. A 13 year old who always calls and asks if there is anything he can do for us. A 12 year old who is always excited to share what new thing he is drawing. And a 2-1/2 year old that spends 40 hours a week with Nana & Papa and says things like "I stamp too Nana" or "I cut too Nana". I'm even grateful for the twinge of pain when I remember the small one that went back to live with Heavenly Father too soon, because his loss is what reminds me to be grateful for the ones I do get to see and hold.

love the new designs. I am most grateful for my family who love and support me, even when i get a little crazy with my scrapping obsession. lol

I am truely grateful that my daughter is so kind - she is a teenager and so many times I hear horror stories from friends and co-workers about things thier kids do or have done- my precious one has a heart of gold and is really accepting of all of the people around her - she is a total joy
