And now it's time for more Graphic 45 2012 design team introductions. Although this one is more of a re-introduction. We are so happy to welcome back the incredible artist Gloria Stengel for her third year on our design team! Gloria's work has been a staple on our blog and we are so excited to see what this new year will bring! If we could chose one word to describe Gloria's style it would probably be "classic." She knows exactly how to tap into the vintage style of Graphic 45. Her creations have a grace and elegance that is unmistakable. On her blog Scraps of Life, Gloria provides tons of stunning ideas, tutorials and good cheer to all who visit. She seems to be an endless source of creativity and inspiration. We are are thrilled to welcome her back for a record third year in a row! G45ers, please join us in welcoming the fantastic Gloria Stengel!
"Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to be an artist. However, my school art teachers made sure that I was aware that I had NO artistic talent whatsoever! The only thing I was good at was coloring with crayons! (Lucky for me I found Copic Markers!) My parents were into crafts and I always had access to all sorts of supplies if I wanted to create something. I have tried just about every craft you can think of, and abandoned most of them. When I found rubber stamping and scrapbooking in the early 1990s I knew I had finally found an outlet for my artistic side! You know it's love since I have stuck with it for so long! This is my third year on the Graphic 45 Design Team. I enjoy it as much today, as the very first day! I simply love making things. The main reason why I like designing for Graphic 45 is they let me make things with AMAZING products! Just looking at the paper makes me have a spurt of creative energy. I display some of my Graphic 45 samples in my studio to keep me inspired. There are days when I pinch myself in happiness that every day, I get to do what I love! Charee asked us to share any interesting collections we may have. I used to collect carousel horses, ceramic masks, and brass animals, but since 1990, I have started a new collection! It's name is papercrafting supplies! Especially adhesive, paper, and rubber stamps" -Gloria Stengel
Here is a great video that Gloria created that shows tons of stunning photos of the projects she submitted for the Graphic 45 design team call.
Check out this gorgeous Little Darlings altered art box that Gloria created! You really get a sense for her fabulous style with this project. All of the beautiful embellishments and paper layering make this piece incredibly sweet and awe-inspiring. You can also see Gloria's impeccable eye for color! Just look at how well the bows and embellishments work with the Little Darlings papers to create one beautifully cohesive piece! So pretty! This is the perfect kind of project to celebrating a new baby!
"I love this photo of my husband and me. It was taken in London, with the London Eye in the background. The setting made me think of the London scenes in "Around the World in 80 Days." I wanted to make a steampunk-esque layout, with flowers, butterflies, gears, and all sorts of "junk." The layout is part romance, part engineering geek, part garden fantasy. It is all the parts of my personality rolled into one!" -Gloria
