With the fabulous island-inspired images and colors of Tropical Travelogue, it's the perfect collection for summer crafts! Let your imagination take flight with this lovely creation by Clare! Here is what she had to say about the inspiration behind this fabulous mini! Follow her fun tips to create one of your very own! Take it away, Clare!
I was sorting through a box of photos that I've had for a while and
came across some of my favourite pictures so thought I'd put them all
together in a journal and team them up with the bright and cheery
Tropical Travelogue papers . First I made the binder, and covered it with Island
Jewel. I used some of the flowers from the other side of the paper and
some cut outs to dress the front, and then dyed some staples cream
ribbon with vintage photo distress ink, tied it through the pages and
around the spine and then added a couple of chip board pieces to the
ends of the ribbon.
Then I took 5 sheets of
craft card, folded them in half and stitched them onto a binding strip
before sticking into the book. The closure is made from lime green
rafia. I added some indian bells to the end to give the rafia some
weight and then cut out four 1" circles and stuck them in pairs, back to
back over the rafia. I left the back of the journal plain and just
added a little card with my details on.
I wanted to keep one page in each
double spread for journalling so used cream paper, inked with latte
Adirondack ink. I distressed the edges before sticking each one onto a
page.
Keeping
a neutral feel to the journalling pages I used the Tropical Travelogue
cling stamps and coffee archival ink to stamp out some images on the
same cream card, then cut them out and used them throughout the book.
I used stickers and chip board pieces throughout the book to bling up the pages and kept any fussy cutting to a minimum :-) lol
I also kept the page designs quite simple adding a photo mat and picture to most of them.
Now I've got a keepsake of some of my favourite memories with loads of room for journalling and notes.
Wow, that was great! Next we have a brilliant layout by Arlene Cuevas. Summer really comes alive in this breezy LO! You can see how Arlene used paper distressing and lots of beautiful paper layering to create a genuine vintage look. She also added lovely chipboards, paper rosettes, Graphic 45 Metal Staples and fabulous fussy cut leaves to add striking dimension and movement to this LO. The colors and patterns look simply splendid! Let this amazing layout inspire you to create a pretty layout from your summer photographs! Here is what Arlene had to say about this fabulous work of art!
"I’ve been dying to create a “summer” scrapbook page of this
picture of my husband. This photo was taken in the summer of 2011 at Santa Cruz
beach in California. My husband and I are both California natives and for us
the sport of choice is beach volleyball! I
created this page with quite a bit layering and distressing! Check out my video tutorial for a glimpse of how this page was created
from beginning to end." -Arlene Cuevas

I really love Clare's mini album--such great ideas. I need to learn how to do a stitched binding now! Love the scrapbook page, too. Beautiful projects with this beautiful collection of papers.
Claire, your mini albums always rock! Love the simplicity of this one. Arlenes LO is simply beautiful, love all the intricate details and "fussy cutting" Makes the page really pop!
Love the mini but especially love the layout because I have some of these papers and am working on summer layouts! And I have that rosette die! Thanks for the great ideas!
I find the daily posts so helpful. I have been trying the book techniques and while they are fine, it is the little tuck behind items, the small attention to "over the top" details that are dazzling on the designers' projects. I took notes today.
Wow, beautiful projects!!
