We had a fun experience yesterday here at the Graphic 45 office when we received an adorable package from our friends at the store Scrapper's Playground in North Babylon, New York! They sent us this adorable Happy Haunting pumpkin! Isn't this sweet?! Thanks so much, Scrapper's Playground! Our office Halloween decor just got even more festive!
And now it's time for some serious altered art inspiration! First up is this gorgeous Happy Haunting altered 12x12 Matchbook Box by Denise Hahn. This is a splendid use of the new Graphic 45 12x12 Matchbook Box! You can see all of the superb multi-layered details that give this piece such wonderful dimension. It even lights up! It's a true Halloween dream! Here is what Denise had to say about the inspiration behind this spooktacular work of art! She even gives helpful tips for creating one of your very own!
"I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new Matchbook Boxes. I LOVE making shadow boxes and these take a lot of the work out of creating the base. To make it extra spooky I added 6 little flicker battery operated tea lights. I attached them on the inside with some velcro strips for easy removal to turn them on and off. I decided I wanted to use this one on my front door instead of a Halloween wreath, so at the last minute I added "Welcome" (you can see the addition using G45 Die Cut Alphabet in the second photo). I wanted to incorporate some of the new G45 Staples Metal Door pulls and used them as decorative corners. A great tip for adding color to your box; I used the new Stephanie Barnard Sprays from Clearsnap in Tangerine. Just a little spritz then I smeared with my hand, 2 sprays covered a whole side, so a little went a long way. I can not believe how great this worked and how rich the color came out!" -Denise Hahn
Supplies:
Bird song chipboard die cut 2
Bird song alphabel stickers
Bird song stickers
Stamped metal brads
Ornate metal keys
Metal tags stamples
Ornate metal holes
May art Baker twine
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

Love the boxes today those are sick (the good kind). Making boxes has to be my favorite thing to do. These turned out really great. I can't wait to finish the two I'm working on right now, Ladies Diary and Bird Song. I seem to go back and forth between the two this week. I would love to get my hands on some matchboxes though.

Lots of fun ideas here. I have never seen a pumpkin decorated like that. Most of the time people incorporate carvings in their work so seeing something that is mainly about the outside of a largely untouched fruit is new.
The bird song altered box is also interesting. I would appreciate a gift like that and can only imagine that anyone who received this one would treasure it.
