If you like making 3-dimensional cards like me, you'll probably find yourself wondering how you're going to mail these bulky cards without flattening them. That's how I came about making a box envelope, which is essentially a thin box that's thick enough to house your 3-dimensional cards, protecting them from being smashed in the mail system. Best of all, you can make these box envelopes out of your favourite Graphic 45 patterned papers to match your card. This tutorial will show you how to make a box envelope for your 6x6 inch 3D cards.

Tutorial: Making A Box Envelope For 3D Cards

Supplies:
1 sheet of 12x12" Graphic 45 Bird Song Longevity patterned paper
Scoring Board
Scoring Blade
Glue

Instructions:

1. Place your 12x12 inch patterned paper at a 45 degree angle to the score lines on your scoring board.

2. Score a line at the 4 3/8 inch mark. And another line at the 5 1/8 inch mark. Rotate the paper 90 degrees and repeat. Do this for all three rotations.

3. You will end up with 8 score lines as shown in the photo below. Fold along the score lines and open up the paper again.

4. Follow your score lines and cut off the triangular pieces as shown in the photo below.

5. You will need to snip along the score line on ONE side of the square as shown. Do this for all four squares.

6. Bring up the left and right sides of the patterned paper to meet each other as shown. Adhere together.

7. Bring up the bottom flap and adhere firmly to the centre of the box. And you're done!

Wow, wasn't that fun?! Next we have an exquisite Bird Song altered art box by Arlene Cuevas. Altered art boxes make brilliant gifts! You can create unique and personalized treasures for someone you love. Arlene has created a gorgeous scene by layering Bird Song papers, adding some pretty fussy cutting and lovely embellishments. Let this fabulous piece inspire you to create a one-of-a-kind gift for someone you love! Here Arlene explains her inspiration behind this fabulous project.

"The Bird Song papers are truly inspiring. When I saw the papers for the first time, I grabbed one of my Altered Art Boxes! I knew I wanted to create a pair of Shoji sliding doors that peek into a room where a Geisha is sitting. Inside the box is a treasure of Asian inspired accents such as a fan and scroll. These papers are so gorgeous to work with. The possibilities are endless!" -Arlene Cuevas
