This next superb craft creation was made by Clare Charvill. It's a gorgeous advent calendar featuring the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium and Nutcracker Sweet collections. Advent calendars are so much fun! They are a joy to create and definitely a joy to use in the days leading up to Christmas! They also make wonderful gifts! Get inspired by Clare's stunning creation and follow along with this great tutorial to create one of your very own! Take it away, Clare!

I wanted to make an advent calendar for Beckie my son's girlfriend who absolutely adored all things
Christmasy and chocolate and combine Christmas Past with Christmas Present.  I chose papers from the Christmas Emporium and Nutcracker Sweet collections to make the calendar that she'll be able to treasure and use each year.

Advent02

I bought an mdf flat packed advent calendar and set about painting all the pieces red using Dylusions postbox red ink spray. When I'd finished I stuck all the pieces together with pva glue. It took ages :-) I used Christmas March and Claras Dream 8 x 8 papers to cover some of the boxes, edging each one with my vintage photo distress ink pen to cover the cut edge before sticking them to each box. Then I put all the boxes in their slots and stuck on the numbers.

I made two scenes from the papers to sit in the centre area of the calendar.  The first, a window scene was made up by cutting out the curtain from 8 x 8 Nutcracker Sweet paper, two window frames cut out with the memory box grand madison die, trimmed and stuck together, the sleigh and reindeer scene  from 12 x 12 Believe paper and the children from the 12 x 12 Christmas Emporium paper, and a brick wall made from 210gsm card, embossed with a brick wall texture fade and inked with distress inks. Once assembled I stuck the scene into the corner of the calendar with 1" double sided tape.

The second scene is made up of the large St Nick from the 12 x 12 Christmas Emporium paper, decorated with stickles and glossy accents, the children and fireplace from the happy holidays 12 x 12 paper, a chipboard frame from ABC primer chipboard pieces, (fireplace), black card, some of the smaller elements from both papers and the clock from 8 x 8 Holiday Magic.

To finish the scene I cut out the holly sprigs from 12 x 12 Christmas Emporium paper, folded and snipped them so they curved as I stuck them to the top of the calendar, and then added the Christmas tree and toys cut out from the 12 x 12 Christmas Emporium paper and the Nutcracker from 8 x 8 Nutcracker Sweet paper.

To finish off the top of the advent calendar I added a ribbon bow, antique metal door pull and geometric metal door plate

All that's left to do is fill it up each drawer with chocolates wrapped in red and gold tissue paper.
Happy paper crafting every one :-)
