In case you missed the first four tutorials in this series you can still catch up by checking them out here.
And now it's time for Part 5 of Jane's latest amazing tutorial! Take it away, Jane!
You need to make your foundation page
first before creating Page 5 of your book.
Black foundation Pages:
Instructions for creating a foundation page:
Each month you will need to make a foundation page. For this you will need two black sheets of cardstock.
Cut one to 8 ½ x11 inches- set it aside. Cut your second one to 9 ½ x 11 inches. Please keep the left over bits as you will need them later on.
The 9 ½ x 11 inches piece needs to be scored, place it in your cutter at 8 ½ inch mark and score it, this will give you a one inch seam.
Completely fill in the one inch seam with strong tape.
Carefully adhere the 8 ½ inch piece onto the 9 1/2 inches piece. Make sure you don’t go
over your scored seam, or your page will not fold. Once you have it on, carefully fold the page over to check that it will shut.
Press firmly along the folded over piece, open up your page and check at the two pages line up nicely. Don’t worry if one of your pages is now wider than the other. You can trim it back to make them the same.
You need to add some more tape along the join of your foundation page. Adhere one strip of tape along one side of the join and about an inch of tape on the other side of the join.
A close up of the join with the tape each side. When you come to adhere your print papers, one piece will be an inch wider that the other page. The extra inch will need to be adhered over the top of the inch of tape on the foundation page.

A simple male page with a pocket on the side. I have made a couple of tags for the pocket which allows you to add more photos and journaling. For this page I have used papers from some of Graphic 45’s older collections. You may not have all the papers I have used. But Graphic 45 have lots of amazing papers from their other collections, so you can choose other prints to suit.
Please follow the instructions carefully. Read each instruction to the end, before cutting. Lots of the papers are used on the tag as well as for your page, so you need to cut them the way I describe or you will run out of paper! All chipboard has been sprayed black. All papers have had their edges inked using Tim Holtz –Vintage and Colorbox Liquid Chalk ink – Chestnut Roan.
Please note, I am only human and do make mistakes, I have taken every care while writing the instructions, and hope they make sense. It is quite hard to write instructions as I know what I mean; but this does not always translate into the instructions. If you are unable to work something out, then please ask a question in the comments box at the end of the post and I will answer it for you as best I can. Or email me at jane@seriouslyscrapbooking.net.au

The instructions for creating your 5th page.
Cut your sheet of “Dressed to the Nines’ print paper in half at the 6 inch mark. To cut it the right way you will need to place the print paper into your trimmer with the stripes sideways. Trim both pieces so that they are 6 inches x 9 ½ inches long. You will need to trim one back later on. Ink around the edges of both pieces.
Cover the back of one of the stripe pieces with double sided adhesive or double sided tape. Make sure that the whole piece is covered in adhesive and not just around the edges. Adhere it to your page with a small amount of black showing at the top and side of your page. It should go over the middle of your page with about an inch of it on the other side of your foundation page. Carefully fold your page over, use your finger to run along the seam as you fold the page up and over. This will create a fold that you can see and use to line up your second piece. Lay the second piece of stripe paper onto your foundation page and match up the stripes in the middle of your page. Make sure you are at least one stripe away from the fold in your page. Once you are happy with how the two piece match in the middle, make a mark on the edge of the second stripe piece and trim it to fit on your page. Once you have it trimmed back, cover the back of it with adhesive and adhered it to your page.
The top of your page should look like this.
Place your sheet of “Cultured Reserve” into your trimmer and cut a piece 4 inches wide. Take it out and lay it on top of your left over sheet of “Cultured Reserve”. Make a mark each side of your first piece so that the checks match up. Trim it back so the second piece is the same as your first one. Ink around the edges. Trim one of the strips back to 9 ½ inches long. Place adhesive onto the back of your check piece and adhere it to the bottom of your foundation page with a small amount of black showing at the bottom and side showing. Fold your page in half again.
Place your second check piece onto your foundation page and match up your checks in the middle of your page. Remember to make sure you are away from the middle of your foundation page. Make a mark on the end of your second check piece and trim it back to fit on your page. Adhere it to your page.
Cut two strips of “Man about Town. They need to be adhered together. Overlap one square on top of the other.
Lay the strip on your page. Make sure the square that is stuck down on top of the other is not in the middle of your page. It needs to be to one side of your fold in the middle. Move the strip across your page until you have the same amount of square showing each end of your page. It is not important if you don’t as you won’t see much of it. Trim each end where your mark is. Keep the left over bits for your tags.
Put adhesive on the back of your strip and adhere it to your page covering the gap in the middle of your page. You can use the check at the bottom of your page as a guide to getting it on straight.
Fold your page over, use your hand to help set the fold in the middle of your page.
Your page should look like this once you have finished.
You now need to cut your “Pack your Bags”print paper. You need to cut a piece from the top edge of your print paper and from the bottom. You will end up with a strip from the middle which you need to keep for your tags. Place your print paper into your trimmer with the print sideways. From the top of your print paper cut a piece 5 inches wide and 12 inches long. Flip the paper around so the print is upside down and sideways, cut a strip from the bottom 3 inches wide and 12 inches long. Keep the middle piece for your tags, so put it aside. Place your 5 inch x 12 inch piece into your trimmer and trim it back to 7 ¾ wide. Keep the left over piece. Place your 3 inch x 12 inch piece into your trimmer and trim it back to 7 ¾ inches wide. Keep the left over piece. The four pieces you need for your page should look like the photo above.
Cover all four pieces of print paper with adhesive tape and adhere them to your page as shown above. They need to butt against the “Man about Town” middle strip. In the middle of your page where the fold is, make sure you leave a gap between the two pieces of print paper. Mine is a little bit too close to the fold, so make sure you leave a little bit more space. Place a brad in the top left corner of your “Pack your Bags”square. It needs to go through the whole page.
You need to cut the following pieces from your sheet of “Well Groomed”print paper. You need the gentleman for your page and the other two pieces for your tags.
Lay your gentleman piece onto your page, lining it up along the bottom of your “Pack your Bags” print paper. Your arm of the gentleman will be hanging off the edge of your page. Place a ruler along the edge of your page and rule a line with a pencil. Trim it back and adhere it to your page.
For your photo mat, you need to cut a piece of black cardstock cut 5 inches x 7 inches. Cut a second mat from your Cajun cardstock. It needs to be 4 7/8 inches x 6 7/8 inches. Adhere your Cajun mat to the black mat.
Cut a mat from your sheet of “Mechanical Mind”, it needs to be 4 ½ inches x 6 ½ inches. Cut a second mat from your black cardstock, it needs to be 4 inches x 6 inches. Adhere the two together and add the piece to your Cajun mat. This will give you a photo mat with four layers. Your photo needs to be trimmed to 3 ¾ inches x 5 ¾ inches.
Add it to your page, placing it over the gentleman image. Add your chipboard title and letters. This finishes the left side of your page.
Now you need to work on the right side of your page. You are going to make a pocket for your tags to go in.
The pocket.
For the pocket, cut a piece of black cardstock 5 inches x 10 ½ inches.
Cut a piece of “Mechanical Mind to 4 ¾ inches x 10 ¼ inches. Adhere the “Mechanical Mind” print paper onto the black cardstock.stock.
Place tape around three sides of your rectangle. It needs to be a pocket with the opening along the long edge of your pocket and on the inside edge.
Adhere it to your page on the right side of your page. Add four bronze brads to each corner, and through your page. This will help to keep your pocket on.
Cut a piece of black cardstock to 4 ¼ inches x 9 ¾ inches. Cut a piece of “Haberdasher” print paper to 4 inches x 9 ½ inches and adhere it to your piece of black cardstock. Cut a piece “Postage” print paper to 3 inches x 8 ½ inches. Adhere it to the middle of your “Haberdasher” print paper. Add four photo corners.
Your finished piece is going to look like the above photo. You need to lay all your embellishments onto the piece of paper and check that they will all fit. Add a Tim Holtz Book plate to the top of your piece of print paper. Use two brads to hold it in place. You can add a name or date under the plate. Lay your key on top of your print paper along with your key hole. Once you have fitted them on and you are happy with how it all looks. Adhere your key hole on next using two brads.
To attach your key, you need to make a hole each side of your key at the shaft near the top. You are going to tie it on, rather than gluing it on.
Cut a thin ribbon. You need to push one end of the ribbon through one of the holes on the front and pull it through to the back. Using the same end push it back through the other hole on the back, it needs to come out on the other side of the key and on the front. You should have both ends of the ribbons on the front of your print paper and be able to tie a double knot to hold your key in place.
You need to attach the key to your page near the bottom of the key. Make a hole each side of your key shaft. Cut a length of ribbon, you need to put one end of the ribbon in one hole. You need to make a loop over the bottom of the key. Don’t tie a knot in the back of your rectangle.
Pull the ribbon tight and place tape over the top.
Lay a ruler on your piece of paper. Line the 2 inch mark up with the top of your key hole. You are going to put three brads into your piece of paper. Make a hole at the 1 ½ inch, 1 inch and the ½ inch mark on your ruler. This will let you place three brads in your paper, in a straight line and ½ inch apart. Underneath your key, place a fleur de lis brad.
Tie a ribbon around your finished rectangle about 2 inches up from the bottom. Tie it with a knot on the front and in the middle. Add a chipboard shape under your ribbon in the space at the bottom. Add a brad in the ribbon each side of your knot. To finish your rectangle, place a red brad in each corner of your black photo corners.
Adhere the finished piece onto your pocket. Make sure you have the same amount of print showing all the way around.
The right side of your page should now look like this.
Now its time to work on the tags for your pocket.

Instructions for creating the Tags.
Please follow my instructions carefully. Please remember to ink around the edges of all your print papers. Please note that I have not added any names, dates or any information to my tags. You will need to add your own personal details to each tag.
For your first tag, you need to cut a piece of black cardstock 4 inches x 8 inches. Cut a piece of Cajun cardstock 2 3/8 inches x 3 ¾ inches wide. Adhere it to the top of your tag. Make sure you have a bit of black showing. From your leftover piece of “Pack your Bags” cut a piece 4 inches high x 3 7/8 inches wide. Adhere it to the bottom of your tag with a little bit of black showing. Add a strip of “Man about Town” in the gap in the middle of your tag. Find your piece from “Well Groomed”, it is the one with the top hat, can and tie. Mat it onto a piece of black cardstock. Add it to your tag. Cut a black mat onto your tag. The mat needs to be 2 ¼ inches x 3 ¼ inches. Adhere it to your tag as shown above. You can add a photo, I have not decorated the back of your tag. You can if you want to using your left over bits of print papers.
For the large tag, cut a piece of cardstock 6 ¾ inches x 9 inches. From your leftover piece of “Pack your Bags” cut a piece 4 inches high x 6 5/8 inches wide. Adhere it to the top of your tag with a little bit of black showing at the top and sides. Cut a piece of “Mechanical Mind” to 2 ¾ inches high and 6 5/8 inches wide. Adhere it to your tag near the bottom with a little bit of black showing. Use your last piece from “ Well Groomed” , it should have a shirt and neck tie on it. Mat it onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere it to your “Mechanical Mind” square.
From your piece of “Exotic Destinations” cut a piece 2 ½ inches high x 6 5/8 inches wide. Adhere it to the middle of your tag. Cut a piece of black cardstock, 5 ¼ inches x 6 ¼ inches. Adhere it to your tag, with the bottom of the mat over the top of the images piece.
Cut a piece of your “Exotic Destinations” 2 ½ inches high x 5 ½ inches long. Fold the piece in 1/2 and line it up with the border on your tag. The folded edge needs to be on the edge of your black mat. You need to adhere the bottom ½ to your black mat along the right edge of your black mat.
Cut your piece of “On the Dot” 6 inches high x 10 inches wide. Make sure the stripes are going up and down. Fold the piece in half.
Adhere the stripe piece onto the black photo mat with the fold on the left edge of the black mat.
Cut a photo mat from your Cajun cardstock to be 4 ¾ inches x 5 ¾ inches. Adhere it to the front of your stripe piece.
From your piece of “Man about Town” cut a square 2 stamps high and 2 stamps wide. Mat it onto a piece of black cardstock, then mat it onto a piece of cajun cardstock.
Fold the flap over and put adhesive tape onto part of it. You need to only place the tape where it will be covered with the “Man about Town” square.
Adhere the square over the top of the flap.
Cut a photo mat 4 ¾ inches x 5 ¾ inches from your cajun cardstock. Adhere it to the front of your tag. Add a photo to finish the tag. The flap with the stamps folds over the top of your photo.
On the inside of your tag you can add more photos and journling.
You can make more tags and add them to your pocket if you wish. Don’t forget to add your own journling to your adds.
