Clare Charvill CHA 1 Mother Goose altered project Nursery Clock Pic 7

Hello G45ers,

Time sure does fly when you're having fun, right?! Well that's the theme of today's Graphic 45 blog! We're going to share some incredible ideas for altered clocks that are sure to inspire you! You can find old clocks at most garage sales, thrift stores or other inexpensive shops. It is such a treat to give new life to an old clock by dressing it up in your favorite Graphic 45 collection! Today we've got to gorgeous ideas for altered clock. You'll see a pretty and sophisticated 12 Days of Christmas altered clock by Nichola Battilana. Then Clare Charvill will share her adorable and colorful Mother Goose altered clock. Both of today's crafts are perfect for adding style to any room of the house!

Lets begin with Nichola's lovely 12 Days of Christmas clock. This is a great example of a beautiful craft on a budget. You can dress up an old clock like this to give your home some holiday cheer. You can also give altered clocks as heartfelt handmade gifts! Whatever the occasion, let the beautiful papers of Graphic 45 inspire your creativity! Here is what Nichola had to say about this timeless work of art!

"This project isn’t fussy and doesn’t have a load of details but the results are very pretty. I love how simple but elegant the finished piece is. I think it shows off the strength of the design of the Graphic 45 papers, that they can stand on their own, and it looks rather lovely sitting on my mantle. And even though this piece was created using the 12 Days of Christmas collection I don’t think anyone will bat an eye if it’s left out all year long." -Nichola

Next we have this adorable Mother Goose altered clock by Clare. This darling creation would look perfect in a nursery, child's room or play room! Our new Mother Goose collection offers to many cheerful designs and colors. It's just perfect for altered art! Let Clare's fabulous creation inspire you to create an altered clock for yourself or someone you love! They are so much fun! Here Clare explains how she created this happy work of art. Take it away, Clare!

I’d picked up the blank MDF Clock a while ago and when I saw the sneak peeks of the Mother Goose paper collection thought it was just the right collection to use to turn the clock into something that could sit in a nursery.  The papers are bright and cheery and full of fun characters that we all know and love.

I stamped the clock face onto the cream side of Mother Goose paper with Versa Mark, and embossed it with black embossing powder.  The clock hands were cut from  black card and attached with a stamped metal brad.

I used the 12 x 12 papers, and after a lot of fussy cutting and colour matching this is what emerged from under the pile of off cuts.

To give the lid some feature I used the inside section of a matchbook box, two ornate metal door pulls and an ornate door knob, painted then with green acrylic paint and attached them to the box with tacky glue.
