Happy Times With Handmade Cards
Hello G45ers,
Beautiful Autumn afternoons are the perfect time to make a cup of tea and settle in for some quality crafting time! This is the perfect time of year to send some joy in the mail by creating a beautiful handmade card. Today we're going to share some marvelous ideas for handmade cards. You'll see a bright and cheerful Mother Goose card by Anne Rostad. Then Clare Charvill will share her fun and festive 12 Days of Christmas Card and tutorial. Cards are so much fun to create and they are the perfect way to brighten the day of a friend or family member. Lets get inspired with these fabulous works of art!

And now it's time for some more card-making bliss! We begin with Anne's amazing Mother Goose card. This is just perfect for any occasion. Our Mother Goose collection is especially perfect for children's crafts and gifts! This card would be absolutely marvelous for a child's birthday or other special occasion. Anne had a lot of fun fussy cutting and layering the bright and beautiful papers of Mother Goose. Here she explains how she created this joyful card. Take it away, Anne!
Made this card from the new beautiful Mother Goose 12 x 12 collection from Graphic 45. Fussy cut out the images and used Zig pen on the edges and Claudine Hellmuth Multi Matte over to make them sturdy and durable. This card is 9 1/2 x 4 and for the base I used the last page in the 12 x 12 collection. Made this card for a little girl and there is place for a short version of the story inside so hope she will think it is fun to look at.
The top can fold out and closes with a magnet. Layered some of the images with 3D pop dots. Cut out 9 1/5 x 8. Score at 4. Glue on decor paper and the image and cut around the top image.
Inside of the flap and on the other side there is a tag and on the backside a message can be written.

Wow, wasn't that fun?! Now it's time for some holiday inspiration with Clare! Here is her marvelous 12 Days of Christmas card that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. This card has such a classic look and it's very fun and easy to create! Follow along with Clare's wonderful tutorial to create this timeless work of art for someone you love this holiday season. This
is quite minimalist card but I wanted it to showcase the beautiful poinsettias
from the 12 Days of Christmas papers and Spellbinders dies we were sent in our
last design team package. This is
a great way to make your paper collection go a long way.
Supplies:
Cor’Dinations Darks signature series G45
8 x 8 12 Days of Christmas - Pear Tree paper
12 x 12 12 Days of Christmas - Golden Rings paper (poinsettia’s)
12 x 12 12 Days of Christmas Turtle Dove paper (holly leaves)
Cream Card from the back of the 12 x 12 paper pad
Spellbinders Decorative Labels 28
May Arts red ribbon
Gold Art Glitter
Xyron Adhesive dots and double sided tape
Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Glossy Accents
Tutorial:
Here’s
how I made it if you d like to make one yourself.
Take a green 12 x 12 paper from the Cor’dinations darks collection and cut a card base that measures 7” x 10”. Score at the 5” mark along the longer edge, fold and crease. Take the cream paper form the back of your 12 x 12 pad and cut a mat that measures 6 ¾” x 4 ¾”. Ink the edges lightly, position and stick into place on the front of your card base.
Now take a piece of 8 x 8 Pear Tree paper, and with the lighter side facing you cut two strips from the bottom of the paper. The first measures 6” x 1” and the second 6” x 1 ¼”. Mat them on two pieces of the green Cor’dinations paper allowing 1/8” border around all edges. Stick pieces together, position o your card with the wider piece at the top (see picture)
Now for the sentiment. Take the 12 Days of Christmas sentiment stamp, and stamp out on your cream card. Take your chosen spellbinder dies, and using the smaller frame position over the sentiment and cut out. Then cut out the larger die cut from green card. Mount the sentiment onto the backing mat using 3 dimensional dots or tape and then position and stick to your card
Next,
cut out the poinsettias from the corner of the 12 x 12 golden rings paper and
the holly leaves from the corners of the 12 x 12 Turtle Dove paper. Pic 4. Using a ball tool or similar turn over
the pieces and curl the points of the leaves and flowers to lift them and give
some dimension. Then turn them
back the right was and shape the centre of the poinsettias so that the petals
lift. Ink all the edges to remove
the white core of the paper.
Working
on opposite corners of yur card put dimensional dots on the back of your
poinsettias and holly sprays, position and stick down.
For the inside cut a cream mat 6 ¾” x 4 ¾”, ink the edges. Mat a 6” x 2” piece of Pear Tree paper on green card, add another poinsettia shaped as shown above. Position and stick into place to finish off your card. Highlight the centre of the poinsettias with a little gold glitter, and the holly berries with glossy accents. I hope you have loads of fun making your Christmas cards this year.
