A Terrific Tag Tutorial & More Bright Ideas
Happy Thursday,
What a fun first week of National Craft Month we've been having! Today is no exception. Maria Cole provides an incredible By the Sea tag tutorial that will fill your day with sunshine! Then, Arlene Cuevas shares a brilliant Bohemian Bazaar tag. Have you tried any of these great tutorials we've been sharing?
Don't forget this week's giant giveaway! So many great products from some really excellent companies. This prize pack includes Graphic 45 product including Typography and French Country AND product from Clearsnap, Core'dinations, Petaloo, Spellbinders, and Tombow! Just comment here on our blog or on our Facebook page to WIN! Deadline is tonight, so comment now!
We got a great question on Facebook, and wanted to share a fun tip to help with this inquiry! Does your G45 paper ever crack when you fold it? Our papers are quite saturated with ink, so we have this great tip below!
Let's get to this fun tutorial - Maria brilliantly uses our new By the Sea collection and our Regular Tag Album Staples. What a dynamic duo!
"As a former coastie, I can’t help but love By The Sea! And I just adore the new ivory-colored tag albums by Graphic 45. For this project, I wanted to try something different with tags: a home décor piece! I was really inspired by the 'Beach Rules' from the Set Sail paper, so I instantly thought of another coastal wall hanging project. There isn’t much driftwood in Portland, so I opted for a thin tree branch to 'frame' my project. To mount your tag décor piece, you can either place it in a larger frame or attach ribbon on the back to hang." ~Maria
Tag Tutorial
Step 1. Take Set Sail paper and fussy cut the “Beach Rules” image. Trace the shape of your tag on the other side of your paper, then cut it out.
Step 2. Take Gathering Shells paper and fussy cut an orange starfish. Take My Anchor paper and fussy cut a blue starfish. Take Sand and Surf paper and fussy cut some shells from the “Gathering Seashells” image. Cut (2) stamps from Splash paper.
Step 3. Take Beachcomber paper and cut off a 6.5” x 8” piece. Flip over to reveal red side and set aside. Take remaining Beachcomber paper and fussy cut some shells. Locate (2) blue flowers such as these Petaloo Dahlias in Aqua. Locate the following By The Sea chipboard piece.
Step 4. Adhere Beach Rules tag shape onto your tag. Adhere to burlap.
Step 5. Arrange fussy cut pieces and flowers per photo then adhere.
Step 6. Adhere 6.5” x 8” Beachcomber paper behind burlap, then tan cardstock. Take your branch and trim off pieces to fit each side of your tan paper. Adhere. Apply Stickles to shells. Insert your wall hanging into a larger frame or attach ribbon to the back for hanging.

Arlene made this Bohemian Bazaar tag, and it's so bright and beautiful, we cannot wait to share it with you!
“The Staples Large Tags are very vesatile. For this project, I turned one of the large tags upside down and created a fun 'tail' accented with chipboard pieces from the Bohemian Bazaar chipboards set. The Bohemian Bazaar papers are very festive and colorful. I’ve always stayed on the 'safe' side and created with neutral, earthtone colors. But after playing with these gorgeous Bohemian Bazaar papers, I’ve traveled outside my norm and I’m in love!” ~Arlene Cuevas

Love all the beautiful tags! Thanks for the great tip on cracked paper! I had a whole pad of paper that cracked whenever it was folded across the grain. I decided I didn't love it enough to keep it when it did that with every thing I made. Now I know how to work with it.
