Out-of-the-Box Ideas with Botanical Tea
TGIF G45ers!
Have we got a fantastic Friday blog for you today! Clare Charvill shares a great set of Botanical Tea Easter eggs with a tutorial. Then, Denise Johnson shares an easy and beautiful Botanical Tea card. It's going to be a fantastic start to a crafty weekend.
But first, who won our contest? Our randomly chosen winner from our blog comments is....
-Wendy Wakefield: I totally know what Denise is saying. I tend to hoard all of my Graphic 45 papers. I would so love to win this week's prize package and maybe just dive in and make something beautiful - just maybe!! :0)
Congratulations, Wendy! Please email [email protected] to claim your prize. Many thanks to all who took part, there will be another contest next week, so stay tuned!
Clare shares a wonderful idea filled with fun memories for her. You're going to love it!
"Egg rolling was an annual tradition when I was at school. We used to take our decorated eggs in on the last day before the Easter Holidays and then have a class outing to the top of the largest hill in our local park and have our annual egg rolling competition. It was great fun. I thought I’d revive the tradition this year and decorate some eggs using the Botanical Tea stamps." - Clare
Botanical Tea Egg Tutorial
First hard boil or blow your eggs. (It’s the hard boiled ones that we used for rolling) and dry them off with a heat gun.
Then put two or three coats of paint on each egg, drying each layer as you go with your heat gun. I used chalk acrylic paint on mine.
Stamp your choosen images on two ply paper tissues or napkins with memento ink. Cut out each image and peel away the bottom layer of tissue/napkin ready to add your images to your eggs.
Use matte medium or pva solution to coat your eggs where you want to add you image and carefully position and stick down your tissue/napkin image. Use a paintbrush to ease out any creases as best you can. Dry off with your heat gun again.
To finish off your eggs use light coloured marker pens to add a hint of colour to your stamped images.
The basket for the eggs was made from a 4 x 4” square of chipboard for the base and four 4” x 1 ¾” sides all covered in woven ½” strips of green 6 x 6 Botanical Tea patterns and solids paper. I chose co coordinating paper from the same pad for the die cut doilies and edging and scrumpled up white tissue paper to sit the eggs on. I added a few chocolate eggs in there too. The corners of the basket were tied together with May Arts green silk ribbon.

Thank you,Denise, for the dye tutorial. I recently dyed some polyester lace with alcohol ink and rubbing alcohol in a small dip container. The colors came out so vibrant, in only a few minutes. I used rubber gloves to squeeze out the excess dye, and hung to dry. They dried within half an hour.
