Get Ready for Father's Day with Graphic 45!
We have a special Saturday blog to get our crafters ready for Father's Day! Been wracking your brain for some great handmade gifts? We have four fantastic ideas on the blog today to really wow Dad. Denise Hahn shares an altered art project that dad can treasure all year long. Arlene Cuevas and Annette Green share two cards (one has a tutorial!) great for any guy in your life. Then, we end the blog with a fantastic tag mini and altered Book Box complete with a Snapguide tutorial! What a great way to start a Saturday!
Let's kick off this special blog post with Denise Hahn's Good ol' Sport Pencil Holder. She provides some great tips and tricks for this project in her description below.
"One of the hardest things to do is a masculine craft! No bling, no flowers, no lace? Taking it down a notch and showing restraint comes in handy- but so does Graphic 45 Good Ol’ Sport Collection! There are such great images that still give that vintage look we like, but also stay very masculine. I created a fun fathers day project made from toilet paper rolls that any Dad would love to have on his desk. I didn’t do a tutorial but here are some tips for creating your own Good Ol’ Sport Pencil Holder. Start with a sturdy base- an old tile or piece of wood would be great. I used foam board but it was a little light and might tip over if filled, so I added a vintage faucet handle to give it some weight. Cut two of the three tubes down smaller. When you cover them go a half inch extra of paper at the bottom, snip and fold in- then you will have a base to hot glue the tubes down. A Xyron Create A Sticker is the perfect adhesive for this project, you need something super strong. I coated the tubes and base with glossy Mod Podge for a great finished look. Finish off with little trinkets, I think golf tees would be awesome, or maybe a letter of your Dad’s initials. These could easily be changed up for any of the Graphic 45 Collections! Have fun and happy 'man crafting'!" -Denise
Denise uses small details to really make this a dapper project. Love the "D" and the old ticket piece. Just play around with found objects to really take your gift to the next level. You can even add trinkets that remind you of your dad!

“Father’s day is the perfect time to show those special men in your life how much you love them -- create a handmade card from the heart! I created this card using Graphic 45’s awesome new Good Ol’ Sport paper collection. It’s perfect for your masculine and sport themed projects. I definitely stay away from flowers when creating masculine projects, LOL! But try some metal Staples for the perfect vintage touch to your project!” ~Arlene

"In my Snapguide, I share how to piece together various stamped elements to create a colorful, finished image. Using alcohol markers to color in archival ink images is best since the marker won’t bleed. A final touch of gray ink serves as a great shadow effect which really makes the images pop." ~Annette

“What better way to commemorate memories of Dad by creating a keepsake for him this Father’s Day. Each year we make a big deal about Father’s Day in my family and we take tons of pictures. I created this altered Book Box and Tag Album as a keepsake for the photos we will be taking this year. The Tag Album has plenty of space for 2 ½ x 3 ½’ sized photos (wallet size) and tags for journaling. I created a video to walk you though the box and album in detail, but be sure to check out my Snap Guide tutorial that shows you how to alter one of the Graphic 45 Book Boxes and how to cover your Tags with gorgeous Graphic 45 papers.” ~Arlene Cuevas
