Show Love this Mother's Day
"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother."~Abraham Lincoln
This upcoming Sunday is Mother's Day, so we have some great ideas to wow this weekend. Nichola Battilana shares a really meaningful gift she made for her grandmother. Arlene Cuevas makes a beautiful Botanical Tea card that reminds us that it's always time to celebrate our mothers "just because."
We love our G45ers, and you make absolutely beautiful things! We are highlighting a project today from our Facebook page. Amy En Jeroen Voorthuis made this absolutely gorgeous Botanical Tea card. Don't you love it?
Nichola not only shares a beautiful gift, but a meaningful one for her grandmother. This is not only a stunning project, but one that your mother can use for a long time to keep passing on the love. Make one yourself with her fantastic tutorial.
"My grandmother is quite spritely for her 80+ years. She’s a jet setter, a facebooker, and can cut a rug like no one’s business. She also still writes letters. She sits with pen and paper and writes to her friends and family, even when she’s vacationing across the great big sea. So I thought that it would be rather nice to surprise her with a pretty box filled with handmade cards, envelopes and stamps in celebration of Mother’s Day." - Nichola
Botanical Tea Stationery Set Tutorial
The Graphic 45 staples Book Box is perfect for this project as standard A2 sized envelopes fit well inside.
Begin by painting all of the corners and edges with acrylic paint.
Cut a strip 6.9” tall from a 12” sheet of Sweet Chamomile. From this, cut two pieces that are approximately 4.9” wide. These two panels will fit on the front and back, the remaining piece will fit on the spine of the box.
Next, line the inside of the box with Herbal Infusion.
Cover the the remaining surfaces with Botanical Tea. I used strips that were 2.1” for the inside and 2.2” for the exterior.
To soften and age the look of the box I applied a wash of acrylic paint with a dry brush and splattered a bit of tea on it to distress it.
Now to begin embellishing! Cut leaves, flowers and butterflies from Botanical Tea, Spring Duet, Sweet Chamomile and/or Flora and begin layering with design elements from Love Notes and Hello Friend.
Keep fiddling and arranging and layering until you are happy with the results. I’ve used a piece from Botanical Tea Chipboard 1 as a focal point, to act as a frame for a photo of my gran.
On the spine I added another tag and some Shabby Chic Ornate Metal Keys. I’ve also further distressed the outside by sanding the edges and corners.
Inside, add a handy pocket from Botanical Tea Tags & Pockets. I’ve tucked in a few pretty pieces from Hello Friend.
I’ve filled the box with a bundle of simple cards created with Sweet Sentiments with envelopes to fit. Some lightly embellished Artist Trading Tags are affixed with Small Square Glassine Envelopes and filled with stamps for various destinations.
And that’s it! Everything my granny will need to keep in touch with her friends back home as she sits and suns by the pool ;)

Oh boy these are sooo beautiful both projects. Sometimes I´m really sad, that none of my kids ever has wanted to do anything creative, cause wouldn´t it just be love to get such a wonderful box there made for you with love??? I would´ve loved to try that, but I´m afraid, it´ll enver happen.
