Full of Southern charm, Jim Hankins is truly a Gentleman Crafter! Known for creating intricate 3-D art projects and his use of innovative mixed media techniques, Jim has designed projects for Graphic 45 and for Tim Holtz and Dyan Reaveley of Ranger Industries.
An avid blogger, YouTube instructor and educator at large, Jim loves traveling the country, teaching classes online and in person and reaching out to fellow crafters to share his love of techniques and album construction.
Jim always comes up with the most creative and original ideas. We cannot wait for you to read this description of this magnificent project. What an inspiration!
The Victorian Bathing Box-Or the Bathing Machine
"I love the history of this Bathing Machine. It shows just how much times have changed. The Bathing Box or the Bathing Machine with only one door would be backed into the sea and need to be turned around. It was considered essential that the machine blocked any view of the bather from the shore. Some machines were equipped with a canvas tent lowered from the seaside door, sometimes capable of being lowered to the water, giving the bather greater privacy…
…so that the bather descending from the machine by a few steps is concealed from the public view, whereby the most refined female is enabled to enjoy the advantages of the sea with the strictest delicacy. (From Wikipedia)
The By the Sea Victorian Bathing Box has been updated with the beautiful papers of Graphic 45’s By the Sea Collection. Ready to be wheeled by the sea or ….into your living room. Pull on the door knob and out pops the 6 x 8 mini ready for summertime vacation memories."
