The Magnificent Mixed Media of Solange Marques
Happy Friday, G45ers! Another weekend is around the corner, and we are about to leave you with some great inspiration to carry you through Saturday and Sunday! Solange Marques from Brazil is an incredible mixed media artist and we cannot wait to share her projects with you. Each project is its own masterpiece, with incredibly unique and beautiful ways to use our collections. Solange will share three projects today with three of our retired collections, so it will also be such a treat to see these papers being used so beautifully. You are going to adore her work, and we cannot wait to see what this year will bring with the wonderful work of Solange!
Before we begin, who won our blog contest this week? It's time to find out! The randomly chosen winner is....

Now, we introduce the splendid Solange!
"Hi, I am Solange Marques and I am só glad to be part of Graphic 45 team.
I live in Curitiba, south of Brazil. I am married for 30 years and I have five children: Camila(29), Alexandre(27), Bruno (24), Gabriela(19) and Miguel(13) and two grandchildren: Clara(5) and Samuel(3). They are always present in my creations.
I am Graduted in Architecture and Fine Arts(perhaps that explains my huge passion for paints and their constant presence in my projects. Working in a Bank as a jewelry appraiser for 25 years.
In the scrap I love mixing techniques, mainly involving paints and textures(watercolor, acrylic gesso, modeling paste and a lot of mediums). I consider myself a mixed media artist and I love the artsy style!"

This artist has a different style...less fussy cutting than I've usually seen, less deep layering...yet so beautiful. It'll be interesting to see what she does with future projects. And congratulations to this week's winner!

Loved the blog this week and Solange's projects are great also. The piece with bee's wax is so well done, it lets all the layers show and that takes a special hand. Loved the thrill of winning this week's prize. Great way to finish the week.

Solange Marques's style appears to open up a bold, new design avenue in terms of how to use and think about G45 papers. It's going to be stimulating to watch the impact of this fresh approach and to learn from this very interesting artist. Her manipulation of paper through paint really makes me sit up and take notice.

I love the suitcase but have to go with the Butterfly Canvas as a favorite. I would love to see a tutorial on how something like that is done. The various effects done using mixed-media additions would be a real treat to have explained, especially the bees wax.

YES! I love Solange's creations! I especially like the decorated suitcase. I have a small suitcase in my craft room, so I'll be digging through my G45 papers and staples to see what I can create:)
