Sail Away with Graphic 45
It's a great Thursday to take a papercrafting adventure, wouldn't you say? We have two truly magical and whimsical projects that will certainly inspire and put a huge smile on your face! Nichola Battilana and Miranda Edney WOW with their incredible creations - their creativity knows no bounds. We cannot wait to jump in today!
But, before we do, don't forget to take part in this week's blog contest! This $35 Come Away with Me prize pack could be yours. Just comment here on the blog or on our Facebook page. We will announce the winner here tomorrow Friday, September 19.
First, we have this most magical Typography paper Sky Pirate Zeppelin! Wow, isn't this too amazing? Tell us more, Nichola!
"I’ve been meaning to expand my fleet of amazing flying machines so and when I created the template for my Old School Rocket, I knew this project was in my future. The shape of the rocket body can easily double as a zepplin. The addition of a paper boat, trims, chains, gears and propellers turns the rocket into a fabulous sky pirate vessel. The images and colours of Typography lend themselves perfectly to steampunk projects so it was a natural choice. The ‘rope’ used to attach the boat to the zeppelin is a sturdy gardening wire that has a natural covering. Hot glued firmly into place, these ‘ropes’ keep everything exactly where it should be without causing too much stress to the paper. Copper, brass and bronze accents are in keeping with the steampunk feel. A bit of metallic acrylic paint can transform chipboard with very little effort. Distress with an old ink pad and you can add years to those new ‘metal’ gears and cogs. I added a couple of small light bulbs which should easily available (I got mine from the grocery store!) and a snip of tea stained cheesecloth to the inside of the boat. Finally I glued an eye pin in the top so that my little vessel can hang proudly and fight off any lightning thieves." ~Nichola
Her detail on this project is unbelievable!

Next, we have a gorgeous Come Away with Me altered sailboat by the amazing Miranda. This makes us long for a sea adventure!
" I have had this wooden sailboat in my stash for quite some time, and now that Come Away With Me arrived it was the perfect choice! I also added a wee bit of By The Sea on the anchor part. All I did was trace the map shape out of the fabric sails that were already on it. Easy peezy. Hope you like what I have created! Hugs!" ~Miranda
We love how Miranda used the maps on the sails. Amazing!
