'Twas the Night Before Christmas Pop-up Card Tutorial

The Sizzix die creates a flat card...

...which can be propped up to create a stand-up card.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-02-of-25

Cut these pieces from Twas The Night Before Christmas with the dies in the Sizzix set.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-03-of-25

Adhere the Happy Holly-Day piece to the inside portion of the card. Notice the half-circle tab for propping up the card later.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-04-of-25

Close the card flat and adhere the Twas The Night Before Christmas piece to the top portion. (I’ve inked the edges of all the papers with a brown ink)

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-05-of-25

Fussy cut a few holly leaves from Happy Holly-Day, ink edges. Adhere a 6” piece of red metallic ribbon to the same length of green ribbon.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-06-of-25

Adhere the ribbon unit to the Jolly Old Elf die-cut piece as shown.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-07-of-25

Add lots of foam tape to the back for a solid secure layer when adhered.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-08-of-25

Peel and stick the foam tape and adhere this unit to the card front.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-09-of-25

Slice across the die-cut border piece (Bundle of Toys)

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-10-of-25

After inking the edges, adhere both halves to the card above and below the ribbon unit.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-11-of-25

Cut a few strips of desired paper for the card’s inside. Use your favorite border punch for interest.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-12-of-25

Stamp the image onto smooth ivory cardstock with any red ink. Carefully color in elements as desired.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-13-of-25

A Gelli-Roll pen is a fun tool for adding small touches of sparkle and sheen. Color in the number 25 and around the frame.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-14-of-25

Cut out the stamped image closely and adhere to card front with foam tape to pop it up.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-15-of-25

Stamp the Happy Christmas sentiment with green ink onto ivory cardstock and cut out closely. Use the Gelli-Roll pen again to accent areas.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-16-of-25

Adhere stamped cardstock to Antique Moss cardstock and cut closely around it. Adhere this unit to card base with foam tape.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-17-of-25

Cut a 6” length of red metallic ribbon and tie into a small bow, then adhere to card as shown.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-18-of-25

Adhere the fussy cut holly leaves, layered with foam tape to the card front as desired. For added dimension and interest, it’s fun to add a clear dimensional glue like Glossy Accents to the holly berries. This will appear clear once dry.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-19-of-25

Adhere three small chipboard circles to the card front.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-20-of-25

See how the glue dries shiny and clear?

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-21-of-25

The bit of sheen from the Gelli-Roll pen coordinates with the metallic ribbon nicely.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-22-of-25

The card is finished!

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-23-of-25

And looks so pretty when propped up.

Twas-the-Night-Before-Christmas-Pop-up-Card-Graphic-45-Annette-Green-24-of-25

Don’t forget to make an envelope for your card. I used the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.
