(1) Knob

Jim's Calendar Step-by-Step Tutorial!

Let’s get started…

The Calendar Front Piece:

Cut Chipboard to 8-1/2 x 8-1/2-inches and punch corners with a decorative punch.  I used We R Memory Keepers Scallop Corner Punch.  Cover the front with an 8-3/8 x 8-3/8 -inch piece of patterned paper (Typography-Journey) that has been corner punched to match.

The Calendar Frame:

From chipboard cut the following:

(2) ¼ x 6-1/4-inch piece

(1) ¼ x 4-1/8-inch piece

(1) 4-5/8 x 6-1/4-inch piece.

Apply the ¼-inch pieces flush with the edges of the 4-5/8 x 6-1/4-inch piece with glue or Scor-Tape.

Cut a piece of Acrylic or acetate to 4-5/8 x 6-1/4.  Apply Scor-Tape to the top edges of the ¼-inch chipboard pieces and adhere acrylic sheet to top.  Last, cut (2) ¼ x 6-1/4-inch piece and (1) ¼ x 4-1/8-inch piece.  Cover with patterned paper and apply Scor-Tape to back and adhere to acrylic flush with the edges.  Turn the frame piece over and apply glue or Scor-tape to the back.

On the Front Calendar piece, measure over from the left edge ½-inch and down from the top 1-1/2-inches and adhere the frame to front.

Making the Calendar Tags:

Cut out the (12) vertical calendars from the Graphic 45 collection.  Adhere a Graphic 45 Artist Trading Tag to the center and leave 1-1/4-inch of the tag exposed at the top.  From the collection cut out various graphics for each month.  Apply a dimensional foam piece to the top of the tag and use one of the larger cutouts and adhere to tag.  Now, apply the remaining cutouts to the top of this piece.  When the calendar tag is placed into the frame, the dimensional piece allows the cutouts to cover the top exterior frame.

Date Tag Clips:

Adhere an Idea-ology Hinge Clips to the front by measuring down from the top ¼-inch and over from the right edge 1-1/2-inches.  Glue into place.  Next, adhere the second clip 4-inches from the top and 1-1/2-inches from the right edge.

Date Tags:

Cover (13) Graphic 45 Artist Trading Tags with 2-1/4 x 2-5/8 pieces from the patterned side of the Time to Flourish Collection.  Round off edges with a ¼-inch corner rounder.  Adhere to front sides of tags.  Cut out, stamp or use stickers for numbers and adhere to front of tags.  You will need numbers 0-9 and another set of numbers 1-3.

Preparing the Graphic 45- 8 x 8 Matchbook Box:

I love black as a base color on projects.  Paint the edges and the entire interior box with craft paint and allow time for drying.

Putting it Together:

Apply Scor-Tape to the front of the Matchbook Box (With the opening facing you.) and adhere the Calendar Front Piece to the Box.

Matting the Box:

From the collection (I used Typography-Inscribed), cut the following and adhere to respective areas:

Left/Right Sides- 1-3/4 x 8-1/4

Back- 8-1/4 x 8-1/4

Top/Bottom- 1-5/8 x 8

Adding the Knob:

Find the center top of the interior box at 7/8 x 4-inches and mark.  Pierce or punch a hole for the knob on this mark.  Insert screw head into the interior top of the interior Matchbook Box and place the knob onto the top of the box.

Matting the Interior:

From the Time to Flourish collection, cut the following and adhere to respective areas:

Interior Box Back- 8 x 8

Interior Box Sides-1-5/8 x 8

Interior Pocket Storage:

Add two pockets to the interior of the Matchbook Box and adhere into place.  Place the extra date tags in these for storage.
