St. Patrick's Day Inspiration with Jim, the Gentleman Crafter
Jim, The Gentleman Crafter, is one incredible designer. He comes up with the most incredible ideas, and today we get to read his wonderful interview about his love for creating. Also, it's almost St. Patrick's Day, so he has a downloadable card tutorial just in time for this fun holiday!
An Interview with Jim Hankins
1. Why do you craft?
I have always crafted something or other since I was a child. I love to use my hands to make things…Anything! There is a sense of total fulfillment when I craft. I get into this zone where I’m completely immersed and that truly is my happy place.
2. What do you feel is your crafting forte?
I am a chipboard freak! S,o if it can be made from chipboard I’m all over it! From cards to 3-dimensional object…That is my love.
3. What inspires and motivates you to be creative?
When I see something when I’m out and about, I find joy in trying to recreate it in chipboard…I guess I’m inspired through the observation of the things I see each day.
4. What do you do with your projects once they're complete?
I mainly give away or donate the things I make. However, there are projects that I keep to use as a reference of how I made them or special projects that mean something to me.
5. What is the funniest craft disaster you've ever had?
I’ve had many and not ashamed of it…I learn from each one…LOL! I guess...Teaching a Ustream show on how to line a configuration box insert the way Tim Holtz does. I had just learned how. During the show I got it totally wrong and was just stuck! I couldn’t figure it out to save my life! Finally one of the students in the Ustream class had to give me the directions of how to do it!
With your talent, we can tell creating is something you pour your heart and soul into! Thanks for sharing with us, Jim!
