Why Do You Love to Craft? Donna Espiritu Shares Her Crafting Love!
Today, we are going to take a closer look at the talented Donna Espiritu! She recently had the beautiful baby pictured above, and we can't wait to get to know more about her love for creating. Then, she provides a wonderful tutorial for this gorgeous Baby 2 Bride layout. The National Craft Month fun continues!
An Interview with Donna Espiritu
1. Why do you craft?
Although it started as a hobby, I consider crafting as a reason to explore my creative side. I also want to continue preserving memories through my layouts, mini-albums, cards, etc. I know one day I will want to look back and and then I'll see my life through my creations.
2. What do you feel is your crafting forte?
Cards, minis, altered art, layouts, etc?- I love trying out and doing all of these things. But I think my forte is creating layouts (and mini-albums).
3. What inspires and motivates you to be creative?
My life. I want to record, capture our lives not just for myself but especially for my daughter.
4. What do you do with your projects once they're complete?
For layouts, I display them first on top of the cabinet where I put most of my crafting stuff. Then either I slip it into my album or in a brown paper bag which I collect. For minis, cards, tags, I also display them then later on put them in a box (with a scented sachet, so it smells good when someone take it out to see).
5. What is the funniest craft disaster you've ever had?
I accidentally cut myself with my fine tip scissors. Didn't feel a thing and no blood came out, until I pulled it out. Hurriedly dabbed the area with alcohol and it hurt like...H. :)
Ouch! That doesn't sound like fun. Thanks for sharing your love for crafting, Donna. Amazing!
Now, Donna shares her gorgeous layout and provides a fabulous tutorial below!
"I consider creating layouts as my forte. And one of the things that I notice in my projects is dimension. I tend to layer things up but not just using foam tapes to add "height" to elements in my projects. There are several ways to add dimension: a piece of corrugated cardboard (I also love to recycle), stacks of photos/flowers/chipboard pieces, cheese cloth/gauze, etc." ~Donna
