Katie Zoey Ho

"I started picking up my pencil to draw at the age of 3 and the very first thing I drew were apple hearts which I clearly remembered till today. I took up traditional and general fine arts during my entire general education from age 7-17 and had received formal industry training in area of footwear design with various Italian trainers from a notable Italian shoemaking and design school, Ars Sutoria.

But what’s really interesting about me is that I was previously trained and had worked for Science and Medicine for more than a decade before moving into Arts & Design. Love coffee and Science but my passion inclines towards designing, innovating and creating. Thanks to decades worth of scientific & medical research training, the innovation process in experimental design had made the transition possible and not a scary one, although I'm still at my infancy stage. The combination of Science & Art always excites me and I do enjoy the mind-boggling yet fulfilling creative process, making beautiful things out from the norm and create things from the unusual.

Love almost everything that’s artsy & beautiful and a true believer that Art do speak. I desire to create things that are beautiful enough to inspire and encourage people in every means and aspired to be one such Artist in near future. I currently resides in Singapore, a tiny red dot along the equator on the map; also known as the Green City where you will be surrounded with lots of greeneries and enjoy summer all year round." ~Katie

First, Katie comes up with a great idea for every crafter - an Artisan Style Crafter's Card Holder! Hold your ATCs and more in this fun creation.

"While doing up cards for Father’s Day seems to be one of the easiest thing to do, I’m seriously one person who is just bad in doing up cards (though I do make some at times)… For this time round, I’m doing up something a little different, all started from a black regular tag and gradually transformed into one such holder - a Crafter’s card holder for the exquisite, rare and unknown. For such card holders only holds a minute amount of cards, they are known for their exclusivity where cards are only given to a few which made them rare. " ~Katie

Next is a favorite of Katie and our G45ers - Katie's stacked Come Away with Me suitcases! Love these!

"My one such obsessions… I just love suitcases, especially stacked vintage suitcases. To fulfill both my visual hunger and imagination of “owning” a couple of stacked suitcases, I built these little stacked suitcases from scratch and what’s housed within are some mini suitcases made from matchboxes, library of mini books and those little "Titanic" and “Aviator” treasures. We adore this project Katie used for her Design Team audition this year. A Home Sweet Home crate! What a beauty. Check out the video tutorial below!

"My other one obsessions; vegetable crates… A recent walk into a supermarket turned me into another obsession freak the moment I saw a vegetable crate. I realize I can be a junkie collector. The thought of owning one simply can’t get off my mind and I will be one crazy weird woman emptying all the vegetables trying to steal the crate back home (if I ever want to do that). Hence, it’s healthier for me to go home and find a way to build some crates..." ~Katie

"Mixed media is endless with so many possibilities… And all starts from imagination. With a little mind boggling, poking my creative brain cells plus a little innovation, here I develop a technique in how to create this vintage exotic patina look without the use of patina gilders paste, vinegar or other agents. Warning!! Your hands will get really dirty for this!!!" ~Katie
