Faber Castell & Graphic 45 Blog Hop: Day 5
We have had such a great time hopping with Faber-Castell this week and we can't believe it's the last day! We have 2 fabulous projects to bring utmost inspiration. Solange Marques and Maggi Harding have a layout and canvas sure to kick off a great weekend. At the end of the blog jump on over to Faber-Castell's blog to get fabulous ideas. What fun!
First, we have this amazing layout by Solange Marques for Solange's daughter's upcoming wedding. Absolutely breathtaking!
"Graphic 45 and Faber Castell together is wonderful for people that love mixed media, like me. For this Blog Hop I made a mixed media layout using the new Gilded Lily collection from G45 and Faber Castell mediums. This collection is so romantic and it’s perfect for this photo of my daughter and her future husband. I blended the photo on the background and I used gesso, gel médium, gelatos and pastel pencils on the background."~Solange
Supply List
Graphic 45 Gilded Lily collection 12x12 papers:
Creme de La Creme, Gilded Lily, Tres Chic
Cling Stamp G45 Artisan Style 1
G45 ink Pad
Faber Castell Gelatos
Faber Castell PITT Pastel Pencils
Faber Castell Gel Medium
Faber Castell Gesso
Acrylic Paints
Now, we love this fabulous canvas from Maggi Harding using Faber-Castell and Artisan Style. Amazing!
"To create my canvas, I first covered the entire canvas with gelato colors that coordinated with the Artisan Style design paper. That was a much brighter look than I wanted so I painted over the background with a light coat of white gesso. I used a paper towel to lightly remove some of the gesso so that some of the gelato color would show through. Next, I used a stencil and Faber-Castell's Whipped Spackle to add texture to the background. ( I loved how easy it was to apply the spackle smoothly!)
After fussy cutting the peacocks and flowers from the Artisan Style 12 x 12 title page and elements from some of the Ephemera cards, I began creating a collage using Faber-Castell's Gel Medium both as a glue and sealant. To get a really good seal and bubble free image, I apply the medium both to the canvas and to the fussy cut images as I glue them down. Then I brush gel medium over each image as I glue it down, and use a rub on tool to smooth out the image and get rid of any bubbles that may have formed.
Once I was happy with the collaged scene I created, I used a water brush and added a little more gelato color here and there on the canvas. I allowed that to dry and then put a final coat of gel medium over the entire canvas." ~Maggi

Solange's layout gives you the feeling of being in a greenhouse. All of the flowers and foliage is beautiful. Maggi's is the opposite - bright and bold.
Both are amazing.
thanks for sharing.

You've saved the best for last: the contrast of Solange's softness and Maggi's boldness is just an amazing example of the reversibility of the Graphic 45 collections.

Loved the blog hop! Solange's work is incredible! I watched a video once of her painting her background to blend with her photo..a..maz..ing! Such talent. And speaking of hopping, somehow I hopped all the way to a Bird Song mini tutorial by Arlene done a few years ago. You've asked what papers we'd like to bring back, how about staples? I really loved the metal tags and buttons she used. Would love to see those come back. Who's with me? What do you say G45!?! :-)
