Now, enjoy this gorgeous "Discover Life" card and tutorial from the amazing Kathy. What a beautiful card! Your recipient is sure to want to keep this one for a long time!
"I don’t know that there’s anything I enjoy more than making cards! There’s just something deep down soul-satisfying about layering pretty papers and inspiring images to create a special message for a friend or family member.
I love to include interactive elements in my cards, like pockets with tags that pull out, or tiny envelopes to hold tiny treasures.
I wanted to share with all my fellow G45’s just how easy it is to create a layered card with all these elements. Besides, my fingers were itching to play with the gorgeous new Safari Adventure paper collection.
This design can easily be completed in under an hour. Just follow the simple steps in this Snapguide tutorial, and you’ll soon be holding your very own handmade “Discover Life” all occasion card!
Designer Tips
- Machine stitching on paper is really fun and it adds another layer of texture and pattern to your design.
- Try using burlap or other fabric as a card layer. It’s a quick and easy way to add a pop of color and great texture.
- Foam dimensionals add great depth and dimension to a card, but if you don’t have any on hand, you can glue small squares of waste corrugated cardboard to the back of your elements and it will do the job just fine!
- When fussy cutting elements, first do a rough cut around the item or area you want to feature. It’s much easier to cut around a small chunk of paper than it is to try to cut while holding a 12x12 piece of paper in one hand!" ~Kathy
