A Week of Graphic 45 Albums: Day 2
The week of albums continues with two stunning travel albums from Maggi Harding and Kathy Clement! They share such amazing tips (and Kathy even shares a recipe!) and you will leave so ready to create some albums!
First, Maggi uses Voyage Beneath the Sea to document her time on our Graphic 45 Cruise to the Caribbean! She has a tutorial too!
"The highlight of my year so far, has been going on the Graphic 45 cruise with Diane, Aimee, Charee and so many super G45 crafters. It was so fun to meet everyone and of course, I had to create a mini to memorialize my trip! I used Graphic 45's Mixed Media Album and bits and pieces from all the offerings in the Voyage Beneath the Sea. collection.
I did a Snapguide tutorial of how I did the front cover for you and in the Snapguide, you'll find a list of the products I used for the cover. I also made a quick video walk through so that you could see how I did all the pages. Most of the photos were taken by me or my cabinmate, Kathi, but I did "borrow" a few from Facebook that fellow cruise mates posted. I'm not sure who I borrowed from, but thank you for your photo!
Tips: Print your journaling onto transparency paper and then glue to your journaling pieces with just a few dabs of clear drying glue as I did for the cover title. People will wonder how you managed to print something so neatly onto a journal card." ~Maggi

We love this summer memory album from Kathy! The photos and pages are amazing - take a look and enjoy her fun tutorial!
"Summer is a great time to build memories by taking a trip. When our grandgirls took a trip to a local “you pick ‘em” blueberry farm, I captured the adventure and laughter in a Staples Square Tag Album.
After the blueberry picking, we had a baking day where all 3 girls worked together and made a delicious Blueberry Delight dessert. Then the family gathered for a fun meal where the girls proudly presented their handiwork.
I broke the album into 3 parts to document the adventure: Pick, Bake, and Eat! I’ve included the recipe I adapted from my friend and teamie, Maggi Harding.
Blueberry Delight Recipe:
Crust:
1 stick butter
2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
Melt butter and stir in the crumbled vanilla wafers. Press the crumbs into a 9” square pan. Set aside.
Filling:
Whipped cream:
2 cups of heavy cream, whipped
3 Tbsp. powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
Cream cheese:
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
1 8 oz cream cheese, softened
Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla together until smooth and fluffy.
In a separate bowl, beat the whipping cream, vanilla and powdered sugar until it is thick and holds a peak. Carefully fold half the whipping cream into the prepared cream cheese mixture and spread over the prepared crust. Refrigerate the remaining whipped cream in an airtight container. (You can also use an 8 oz. Cool Whip, but we prefer real whipped cream.)
Berries:
¾ cup sugar
3 Tbsp cornstarch
4 cups blueberries
juice of 1 lemon
Combine ingredients and cook until thickened. Cool completely. Top the cream filling with the cooled blueberries and refrigerate.
Designer Tips:
- Create photo corners with washi tape! It’s a quick and easy way to give photos a designer look.
- To keep alpha letters straight, try lining them up on washi tape, as I did in the album. Be sure to add a small drop of glue to the back of each letter to help it stick.
- Washi tape makes fast work of adding borders to your layouts and tags, too. The wide black tape also helps to anchor the design on the page.
- Use an assembly line approach to make the album come together quickly. Pre-cut all your papers as follows:
- For standard pages, cut papers to measure 5.25” square. You’ll need 22.
- The pocket page liners measure 4.75”x 4”. You’ll need 12.
- Pocket flaps measure 5.25” x 2”. You’ll need 12.
- For front and back covers you’ll need 4 squares measuring 5 ⅞” each." ~Kathy

"Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle... When the sun comes up you better be running!
Brilliant,smashing, ace of a collection!
