A Week of Graphic 45 Albums: Day 3 with Safari Adventure
The week of albums continues with two albums using the wonderful Safari Adventure! These albums are chock full of great ideas, techniques, and tricks. Nico Scrap and Clare Charvill will WOW you today!
First, Nico Scrap shares an amazing Square Tag Album and video tutorial for this absolutely awesome mini album.
"I have created for you a minialbum for you today. I have imagined this album as the “memories box” we all have in our house, and this one is dedicated to my adventures. You can keep your memories, your secrets, your thoughts, your experiences, your notes, your photos and much more in this album, because of all the pokets, the tags and the pages, a great idea for a special gift!" ~Nico Scrap

Now, Clare shares how she makes her own round corner square album with Safari Adventure. She even has some step-by-step written instructions so you can try construction of one of these beauties!
I love these square tags, so many ways to use them. For my project I used five tags from the pack, added some card spines and chipboard covers to create this fun little picture album altered in a mix of 12 x 12, 8 x 8 and patterns and solids papers from the Safari Adventure Collection. It’s a really easy album to make and once assembled you can alter it in your favourite G45 papers. Here’s what you need and how to make it:
Supply List
One pack Square Tags – Black
Two pieces 2mm chipboard/grey board cut to 4 ¾” x 4 ½”
One piece of black card/card stock
Ribbon/ twine for bow to match your finished project
My album was altered in papers from the Safari Adventure collection: In addition, I used the following supplies:
Lawn Fawn stitches squares
£d Foam strips
Bakers Twine – black and White
May Arts Hessian ribbon
Tacky Glue & Glossy Accents
Step 1
Take five of the large tags and fold the shaped section under each to create a square tag. Fold and crease score lines carefully around the eyelet with a bone folder so that each shaped section moves freely backwards and forwards.
Step 2
From black card /card stock cut six spine sections, each measuring ¾” wide and 4” long. Score each one ¼” in from both long edges, fold and crease score lines.
Step 3
With each piece flat on the work surface in front of you add strips of narrow double sided tape to the ¼” flaps. Then fold flaps upwards so the tape is on the outer edge of your pieces
Step 4
Starting with one spine piece, remove the backing tape from one edge and adhere to the first of your tags, sticking the spine section along the fold line, and centering it along the straight edge between corner curves.
Take your second spine mount, remove the backing tape from one side and stick to the other side of the tag lining up the folded edge and top and bottom ends with the first mount. Then add another tag, keeping the eyelets as level as you can. Repeat until your last tag is in place. Add the final spine mount to this tag. You should have a spare flap at either side of your album ready to add your covers.
Step 5
Round the corners of your chipboard pieces with a corner shaper to match the black tags.
Decide on the paper you’re going to be using to decorate your album cover and cut two 5 ½” squares.
Adhere your chipboard covers to the wrong side of the paper squares using tacky glue/double sided tape and round the paper corners edges with your scissors.
Put double sided tape on the paper around the edges of your chipboard pieces.
Remove the backing strips, and make snips in the paper, up to the chipboard around each corner on both pieces.
Carefully fold and stick the snipped sections to the chipboard, firming them around the corner to press out any bumps as you go, and then fold the straight sections of paper over onto the chipboard. Press down firmly to adhere paper to board.
Step 6
Remove the backing strip from one of the outer spine mounts on your album middle, take one cover piece and with bare side inwards stick the spine mount to one 5 ¾” edge of the cover.
Repeat for the other cover.
To finish your album, thread a ribbon of your choice through all the eyelets and tie in a bow. Add dangles and charms through the bow knot to add extra embellishments to match your album once your project has been decorated.
Enjoy if you follow along and make this project yourself ☺ C
