Amazing Cards for Labor Day!
Happy Labor Day to our American G45ers! Today, we have some amazing card ideas from Kathy Clement with a His and Her option! If you're having an at-home Labor Day, this is great inspiration to make some cards to keep in your stash for those birthdays that sneak up on you!
Kathy has great ideas for both genders using the same collection. This will certainly get you ready for some cardmaking!
"I never seem to have enough birthday cards, especially at this time of year. I had 10 birthday cards to make this month. It keeps my scissors sharp, and my glue bottle on empty! Whenever I can I try to knock them out two at a time, one for the guys and one for the gals. I figure I already have all the supplies out so I might as well make the most of it.
I hear from a lot of my followers that they struggle when it comes to making cards for the men in their lives, so I thought I’d include a Snapguide tutorial for the masculine card in this duo. I’ve used a few fun, simple techniques that add a lot of dimension and depth to the composition. It may look complicated, but it’s actually a basic design that you can use over and over again for any masculine card you need to make." ~Kathy
HIS Card
HER Card
1. Add simple layers with large ephemera cards and ATC policy envelopes. The Red ATC policy envelopes are a perfect color match for this collection.
2. Use a tracing wheel ( a sewing tool) to add quick stitch marks around a sentiment panel. Just run the wheel through the ink pad of your choice and then run it along the edge of a ruler to keep the line straight.
- To add even more dimension to this focal sentiment, I fussy cut just the image from a second piece of paper, then layered it over the original with foam dimensionals. Don’t worry about the flourishes; just cut the basic shape. When you line it up, the pretty leaves and flourishes on the base layer can be seen.
- Add a fun waterfall feature to the inside of your card. I used the 6x6 prints and patterns and Spellbinder Waterfall 2 die to create this fun, interactive interior for my card.
- Decorate the inside of the waterfall feature with cut apart elements from the paper collection. Add photos and journal memories to make the card really special.
- I folded the last waterfall page to form a pocket. This was filled with ephemera from the collection. It would also be a great place to add a gift card!
- Turn your card into a gift by adding a tag, ephemera card and bookmark to the bottom pocket.
