Happy Halloween from Graphic 45!

Hat, Hallowe'en in Wonderland, Maggi Harding, Graphic 45 (08)

A very Happy Halloween to our amazing G45ers! We hope you have an amazing day full of only treats and no tricks and lots of fun with family and friends! Let's see what our designers Maggi Harding and Pam Bray have for us today for Halloween inspiration. They are amazing, let me tell you!

Hat, Hallowe'en in Wonderland, Maggi Harding, Graphic 45 (08)

First, Maggi shows off her pop-up skills with this great Hallowe'en in Wonderland hat she created from scratch. Isn't this awesome?

"I really love making hats and so I thought it would be fun to make a hat with a surprise pop up element.  Alice pops up on this hat just in time for the tea party!

I used a small metal hinge on the back of the hat to attach the top of the hat to the crown.  To keep the circle top from falling inside the hat, I cut the top just slightly larger than the crown.  Alice is only attached to the top of the hat and freely slides in and out of the hat.

I fussy cut several of the characters from Alice in Wonderland and have them staged around the hat intermingled with lots of pretty blooms and pumpkins." ~Maggi

Tip: When building things like this from scratch, use glue that is removable with Undo!  I use ZipDry glue and Scortape, both of which are easily removed with Undo.  Really this will save you much frustration, Undo is my best friend when I'm creating something like this!  Another thing that I like to use is Removable Glue Dots.  They are perfect for trial and error placement but once you figure out where you want something, be sure to adhere with something permanent as those removable dots will not hold.

Tip: You can stand chipboard pieces up like I did on the top of the hat by building a slot from foam tape to hold the chipboard.  Just take a double stack of foam tape and adhere to your surface.  Adjacent to that, add another double stack of foam tape leaving just enough space between the two stacks to create a slot to hold the chipboard.

Next, Pam shares the best card set using our retired collection Happy Haunting. Aren't these adorable cards?

“It is always a fun to do some out of the box ideas…..SO…. I thought it would be great to do an extra large pop up card using 8” x 16” card stock. Once I got my Happy Haunting Pop Up Card made I thought to myself…. Um, how am I going to gift it, lol. So I made a box to place it in. I hope you check out my Snapguide for the tutorial on how I made it all come together.” Pam

The Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L & Graphic 45 Blog Hop: Day 5

Graphic 45 Scrapbook Adhesive Blog Hop 2016 Logos

We cannot believe it's already the last day of our blog hop with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L! We have had the best week of inspiration. And, there's more today! We're ending this week with a bang from our great designers!

Christmas cards, St Nicholas, Tutorial Maggi Harding, Graphic 45 (02)

First, Maggi Harding shares stunning handmade holiday cards that are perfect to mail out this coming season! She uses our Square Tag Staples and St Nicholas to make these stunning cards!

"Ahhhh, I have the best of intentions and I always say, this is going to be the year that I send out handmade Christmas cards.  But, you know what happens, yep, I just never get around to it.  Now this is going to be the year, and I've designed a pretty but easy card and envelope to make this a quick, fun, and awesome project!

I purposely cut the card that is adhered to the tag slightly smaller than the tag so that I can cut 3- 4" x 8" cards from a single sheet of paper.  That will help make this an economical project.  The card and tag just have one other layer cut from the same sheet of paper and you can cut enough layers for several cards from one page.

I used Scrapbook Adhesives to pop up layers that help give my card and envelope a festive and professional look.  Scrapbook Adhesives Adhesive Sheets made attaching my diecut and punches really quick and easy.  With that I didn't have to worry about smeared glue." ~Maggi

Maggi's Snapguide Tutorial

Check out How to Make Quick Christmas Cards With Envelopes by Maggi HARDING on Snapguide.

Tip: Use an assembly line approach when making similar multiple items, i.e. cut,  score, etc. all the pieces at the same time.  Then line the pieces up in the order that they are assembled and quickly put them together.

Graphic 45 Scrapbook Adhesive Blog Hop 2016 Logos

More great ideas from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L and Graphic 45? You don't say! Well, it's true. Today, the fun continues with more fabulous projects!

Before we jump in, let's see who won our Place in Time Sneak Peek giveaways yesterday! Our randomly chosen winners are...

From the Blog:

-Nancy: Thank you so much for re-releasing this collection. I had started a calendar project that was created using this collection and now will be able to complete it.

-Kelli S.: This collection looks fantastic! I'm new to graphic 45. It all started just a few weeks ago when I saw "A Christmas Carol". That began a hunt for as much of it as I could find, and then I bought Safari Adventure, and some of Enchanted Forest and now my wishlist has just grown and grown. I love each new and older collection that I begin to explore and each one is quickly becoming a "must have."

From Facebook:

-Dottie Sims: Yay - happiness all year round!

-Jane Franklin: Love this collection so much!

Congratulations to our winners! Please email [email protected] to claim your prize. Thanks for joining us, and now on to the blog hop fun!

For You Card Box Set, Secret Garden, by Einat Kessler, product by Graphic 45, photo 3

Einat Kessler shares a gorgeous set of Secret Garden cards that would serve as a great gift!

"This is a fast, affordable and easy project. What I love most about it is that you only need the Secret Garden collection to create it. All the cards, the box and the embellishments are all created from these papers. And the best thing is that you can create this under an hour!

This is all about being ready. All the cards are prepared and left empty without a sentiment so whenever you need a card you pull one out of the box, add your sentiment and you’re all set!" ~Einat

Tip #1: Use punches to create embellishments. You can create as many embellishments as you want from any paper in any color that you want. Unlike stickers punches last for a long time!

The autumn inspiration is here with beautiful tags from Joanne Bain! What beauties using Botanicabella.

"For my project today I decided to create 2 Autumn themed tags using the gorgeous Botanicabella collection. To create the tags I fussy cut some of the images from the patterned papers.  I then double layered the base tags using the Scrapbook Adhesives E-Z Runner (which I didn’t realise was the actual refill..lol) and to help create the dimension on them I used the Scrapbook Adhesive 3D Foam Squares." ~Joanne

Off to the Races Tuxedo Box and Pop-Up Album, Tutorial by Alexandra Morein, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 1

First, Alexandra Morein has the most amazing set of projects with great video tutorials as well. How fun!

"Pop-up becomes  now more and more popular in scrapbooking. Crafters seek for something new and unique to add to their creations.

Today I want to share with you a pop-up mini album, which has 3 pop-up elements’ designs and 6 pocket pages. It can hold 14 pictures of 5” x 3.5” and 6 more pictures of 3” x 4”.

It comes with a tuxedo shaped box, which was created from scratch out of chipboard. I have been thinking about the shape of the box quite a lot, and looking at the picture on the signature sheet of the “Off to the Races“ collection gave me the final idea. The most inspiring for me personally, funny as it may sound, were the gentlemen’s bows.

I created a fabric bow by myself, to put on top of the box as a finishing touch. I think it adds more character to the whole project and looks much better than if it was made of paper.

The three pop-up designs that I was talking about are called as follows:

  • Twisted pop-up panel
  • Automatic pull tab
  • Z-fold pop-up panel

In the world of card making these 3 designs are very popular now, and since I mostly made cards before I developed my love and passion for mini albums, I decided to adopt the designs for the pages of the mini album.

In the accompanying tutorial, I will show you how to create the tuxedo box. I hope you will enjoy the tutorial and use the wonderful G45 papers for crafting along." ~Alexandra

Quick and Easy Thank You Card Set Tutorial, Cafe Parisian, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 2

Who doesn't love gorgeous cards? Kathy Clement has them for us in spades today. So many great techniques!

"Anyone who plays with paper has had to address the issue of dealing with scraps. Every scrap of G45 paper is so gorgeous that I can’t bear to toss it in the recycle bin.  So,  I used to have boxes and drawers bulging with leftover papers.

Then one day I realized that project scraps are really just cards in the making!  Instead of cramming my scraps into a box or a drawer where they would languish (and multiply!) I started using them to create small note cards, thank you cards, and tags.

This set of 4 thank you notes is made from leftover pieces of a larger project.  I added in some ATC thank you tags, chipboard flowers and ribbon and in under an hour, I had 4 cute as a button Cafe Parisian Thank You notes.

I’ve created a YouTube Video so you can start making your own quick and easy note cards utilising leftover bits of paper." ~Kathy

Tip: Use Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3-D Foam Squares on the backs of ATC Thank You tags to add a dimensional layer to your cards.

Quick and Easy Thank You Card Set Tutorial, Cafe Parisian, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 2

Tip: Lightly mist the back of chipboard flowers with a little water before shaping with ball stylus and foam mat.  This helps break down the fibers in the paper, making them easier to shape.  It also releases the starch in the paper, so that the flowers, when dry, will hold their shape better.

Tip: Custom color your own designer ribbon with Distress ink.  Choose ink colors that go well with your project, then smoosh the ink pads onto a non stick craft sheet. Spritz lightly with water until little beads form.  Then soak the ink up with your ribbon, scrunching it in your hands to evenly distribute the ink.  Dry gently with a heat tool.

Graphic 45 Sneak Peeks Day 3: Place in Time Deluxe Collector's Edition

  Print_G45_PLACEINTIME_CollectionDCE_large (1)

Today, we are so excited to re-introduce one of our most beloved collections - Place in Time, our original calendar collection. So many great pages and imagery for each month! How fun!

But first, let's see who won Nature Sketchbook Sneak Peek prizes yesterday. Our randomly chosen winners are...

From the Blog:

-Debra Reitz: Absolutely gorgeous!

-Mary Lou Sullivan: I've been a Graphic 45 fan for a while now. Each collection is better than the last! Love the vibrant colors and vintage feel of the prints.

From Facebook:

-Matt Doyle: G45 has done it again with a breathtaking collection. I can see my butterflies popping with 3L adhesives.

-Anne-Therese Cermola Luper Oh my gosh!! Oh my gosh!! I cant even begin to tell you how much I need/want this collection. My son was killed in a mva/drunk driver situation. He always comes and visits us as dragonflies and sometimes butterflies. I kid you not. November 8th, will be his 5 year angelversary. I have been so dreading that day. I have been crying for the last two days. Then I get on here, and bam, see this collection. I cant even begin to tell you, what it did for me to see it. This collection is gonna make it possible for me to make some awesome tributes both 3d and mixed media of my son. TY TY TY

Thanks to everyone for taking part! Please email [email protected] to claim your prize. Now, make sure to enter today. Tomorrow, we'll announce 4 more winners of our Place in Time Deluxe Collector's Edition! Just comment here on the blog or on our Facebook page to win. Have fun entering!
