The Best Things In Life Are Sweet!
Happy Wednesday, G45ers! Kathy Clement shares the sweetest card with us today! You will love her pop-up elements inside. It's a real beauty with Cafe Parisian!
We love seeing the projects with these new collections. Here's a beautiful card with Cafe Parisian!
"When my husband and I were newlyweds, we loved to stroll the quaint streets in St. Augustine, Florida. As the oldest city in the new world, there were dozens of quaint little shops, tiny cafes where you could dine under the brilliant sunshine and our very favorite shop: the French Pastry Shop! A pink striped awning shaded a plate glass window that overflowed with decadent delights. My mouth still waters just thinking about the gorgeous confections that beckoned us into the shop. Our love for one another was big as the world, but our budget was tiny. Splurges were few and far between. Nonetheless, a day trip to St. Augustine always ended with the purchase of one single pastry from that shop, savored beneath the cover of an umbrella topped cafe table. It’s on one of my favorite newlywed memories. The Cafe Parisian collection brings back that joyous time in our lives, and I tried to capture the essence of that French pastry shop in this pop-up project. I hope you enjoy! Bon appetit!" ~Kathy
Tip 1: If you’ve never made a pop up project before, you can find lots of great YouTube video tutorials to get your creative juices flowing. This was my first pop up project, and that’s how I started.
Tip 2: Practice makes perfect! Create your card base and pop up mechanism from scrap paper first. This way, you won’t waste any of your pretty designer papers as you learn your way around the process.
Tip 3: Paint metal embellishments like the cutlery and door plate with white chalk paint to give them a shabby chic finish. Tap traces of blue paint over the raised edges to add visual interest.
Tip 4: Liquid Glue that dries clear is a great adhesive choice for this sort of project. Liquid glue gives you more time to change the position of an element, which comes in very handy!
Tip 5: Hickory Smoke Distress Ink is a great color match for inking the edges of fussy cut images in this collection.
Tip 6: I used scraps of my designer paper to make the pop up mechanisms in my project so that they would blend in well.

Wow, stunning work, never really cared for Parisian until all the recent tragedies there and this really highlights wonderful possibilities.. Also, thanks again for the opportunity to win such an awesome prize, could really use some fun, would make something in tribute to Seamus, who adored to bark at the kids and give them kisses on Halloween...We lost him a few weeks ago..
