"St. Nicholas was the perfect jumping off point for creating my Christmas Card. By layering in keys from the staple line, fussy cut images from the St. Nicholas collection and ribbon, I was able to create a beautiful layered Christmas card." ~Katelyn

"Tis the season to be jolly, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la!"  Christmas really isn't very far off, are you ready?  Do you have all you cards made and ready to go?   Haaaa!  Nope not me, I send my cards out on December 24th, and that's if I'm lucky.

We can always hope that we'll get better, right?  So today I have a pretty card for you made from this year's Christmas collection, St. Nicholas and I have a Snapguide tutorial to make this card.  I used bits and pieces from the St Nicholas collection but you can easily substitute for any items that you don't have." ~Maggi

Give Sweet Treats with St. Nicholas

  Christmas-Gift-Card-Holder,-St-Nicholas-Zyron,-By-Joanne-Bain,-Product-by-Graphic-45,-Photo-6

Today, we have a wonderful gift card holder from Joanne Bain and a truly wonderful lollipop tag set from Kathy Clement! These are so wonderful for this season and we are loving all these great ideas from our Design Team! Let's take a look at Joanne's wonderful project!

Christmas-Gift-Card-Holder,-St-Nicholas-Zyron,-By-Joanne-Bain,-Product-by-Graphic-45,-Photo-6

"As we give gift cards for gifts in the festive season I decided to create a gift card holder. For this project I mixed and matched the ST Nicholas and A Christmas Carol collections. These two collection mix perfectly together to give a beautiful festive project perfect for gifts. I also had a play with the Xyron Tape Runner and the Creative Station. I used the Creative Station permanent adhesive to create like large sticker and used this on my patterned paper cover, it worked a treat while the tape runner made it so easy to stick my paper background strips down." ~Joanne

Now, Kathy shares a gift idea with a special place in her heart and memory. Enjoy this fabulous idea!

All I Want for Christmas Lollipop Basket, Saint Nicholas, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 8

"Children make everything about Christmas more fun and more memorable.  I think each family develops their own unique traditions that make the holiday uniquely their own. I always try to keep lollipops on hand at Christmas time.  Here’s why.

When our first grandchild Sophie was two, she took her first trip to visit Santa.  When I saw her the next day and asked her what she liked the best, she said without hesitation, “The wobbyhop.”  I gave her mama a questioning look and she said, “Santa gave Sophie a lollipop.”  Aaaah!  And we all thought it was so cute, that we didn’t try to change the pronunciation.

Hoping to get the inside line on what items she had on her wish list, my  next question to Sophie was, “So what did you tell Santa you wanted for Christmas?”

Without blinking an eye, she turned a sweet smile on me and said, “Wobbyhops!” I think every aunt, uncle, and grandparent bought her lollipops that year!

And that is the story behind  this sweet lollipop tag basket made with the wonderful Saint Nicholas collection." ~Kathy

All I Want for Christmas Lollipop Basket, Saint Nicholas, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 8

Tip: Make it easy on yourself!  The Saint Nicholas collection is loaded with all sorts of pretty little tags that are 99% finished.  I simply cut these tags out, added a little ribbon, jingle bells, tags from the chipboard tag sheet and a Petaloo Poinsettia.  In a flash, I had 5 adorable little tags made.

All I Want for Christmas Lollipop Basket, Saint Nicholas, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 8

Tip: Recycle!  My basket originally came from our local Farmer’s Market.  It was filled with blueberries.  I tucked it away in the Closet of Shame knowing that I could easily transform it with a little white paint.

Tip: Add holiday sparkle with Glimmer Mist or other shimmering sprays.  After painting my basket, I spritzed it liberally with Tattered Angels Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist.  Then I dried the mist with my heat gun.  My little Farmer’s Market upcycle ended up looking like high end ceramics.  Sa-weet!

All I Want for Christmas Lollipop Basket, Saint Nicholas, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 8

Tip: When the tags are all given out, the basket would be pretty filled with Christmas balls, pine cones or other small ornaments.  It would also make a great little cookie basket!

All I Want for Christmas Lollipop Basket, Saint Nicholas, by Kathy Clement, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 8

Tip: I matted each tag on black cardstock so that it would be sturdy enough to stand up in the basket.  Use the back side for small photos, or write a holiday greeting in white gel pen.

Two Gorgeous Cards + 1 Tutorial with Graphic 45

Mixed Media Christmas Card, St. Nicholas, by Elena Olinevich, Product by Graphic45, Photo_1

We are in full holiday swing here at Graphic 45! There are amazing holiday cards and techniques on the blog today from Elena Olinevich and Sandy Trefger. Let's take a look at these beautiful creations! First, check out this wonderful card by Elena:

Mixed Media Christmas Card, St. Nicholas, by Elena Olinevich, Product by Graphic45, Photo_1

"Sometimes it’s a good to get out of your comfort zone and to create something that you haven’t used to do before.

I guess creating your own background for such a traditional occasion as Christmas would be something that you can do if you want to make your own unique cards.

I decided to make a mixed media background for my classy card. So I started with a piece of watercolor paper, clear gesso and some mists.  So if you feel that you like more papercraft kind of cards you can skip the process of playing with the colors, and to create a traditional Christmas Card.

I also made a picture of how it can look without the paints.

But what you don’t need to skip is adding the glitter, as it makes your card to look more festive." ~Elena

Christmas Card and Box Envelope, St Nicholas, Off to the Races, Tutorial by Sandy Trefger, Product by Graphic 45, Photo 002

"Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. I love the reds and greens of the season along with the white of snow when we are lucky enough to have it plus the sparkle of gold.  To make this special Christmas card, I used those colors to inspire me and the beautiful Graphic 45 collections!  I used the lovely patterns of the Off to the Races collection to mat the different layers of the card and then added chipboard  and die cut pieces from the St Nicholas collection along with a gorgeous ribbon bow and floral pieces. I will be hand delivering this card to someone special this holiday season. Happy Crafting!" ~Sandy

Tip: When you are running low of Christmas papers or any of the smaller prints from the Graphic 45 Christmas collections, look to the other Graphic 45 collections.  You will find that there are many prints in complimentary colors that will work beautifully for a Christmas card as I did for this one by pulling patterns out of the Off to the Races collection.  All I had to add to give it that Christmas vibe were some chipboard and cardstock die cut pieces from the St. Nicholas collection.

"This is a fast, affordable and easy card with a striking effect. I love making folded cards especially for special events like Christmas. Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas (I’m Jewish) I still have a lot of fun making beautiful cards for all my friends who do celebrate it. " ~Einat

Einat's Snapguide Tutorial

Tip #1: I recommend using liquid glue when you need to attach little pieces on panels and you need the margins around it to be even. The glue takes time to dry and that will give you a chance to move the piece to its place.

Tip #2: Take apart flower collections and rearrange them as you want according to what fits your project.
