Creative Weekend Inspiration Featuring Alexandra's VH Box & Sandy's OCS Shaker Tag
Hello, G45ers!
Welcome to another wonderful day of Graphic 45 Design Team revelations. Today, we have two very different, but similarly well-crafted creations from Alexandra Morein and Sandy Trefger. Alexandra leads off with a lovely box made with the needleworkers in mind. This perfectly finished sewing box features our glamorous Vintage Hollywood collection and a ton of functional details. Check them out in her YouTube video and the images below! Next up, Sandy introduces us to her fun and fabulous Olde Curiosity Shoppe shaker tag. Starting with an upcycled product tag, Sandy adds an unbelievable amount of dimension, detail, and depth with thread, ribbon, sequins, and of course the inimitable imagery of Olde Curiosity Shoppe. Sandy also offers some valuable tips about creating your own shaker tag. We are so excited to share these beautiful pieces with you, but first it is time to announce our Master Detective and French Country Sneak Peek Win it Before You Can Buy It grand prize winners!

Vintage Hollywood Octagon Sewing Box
By Alexandra Morein
"I always wonder, 'Who are the G45 blog’s readers?' Are they paper crafters only? Do they do any other crafts? Maybe some of them don’t do crafts at all, but just admire the beauty of the papers, and like to see the projects shared….
Even if most of the readers indeed are paper crafters, I am sure that everyone has a few needles, thread spools, a couple of scissors, and other tools which are intended for needlework. Well, I do! And I needed a place to store them all together; that’s why the idea of creating a sewing box came up. I also upcycled an empty duck tape spool, and in my box it serves as a pin cushion holder.
For embellishing the box, I’ve used the Vintage Hollywood collection. All the Hollywood stars needed a lot of costumes, so someone had to sew them, right?
I hope you will be inspired by my project and the look of the “always-stunning-and-must-have” papers from Graphic 45." ~Alexandra Morein
You can have a look at the box in my YouTube video presentation too.

Shaker Tag Sandy Trefger
"If you look at the packaging that many of the Graphic 45 metal embellishments come in, you’ll see that they are shaped like a tag and even have the eyelet hole at the top. And some have a perfectly smooth but slightly raised piece of plastic over the embellishments as part of the package. When I saw this type of packaging on my Graphic 45 Ornate Metal brads, I saved it to create my shaker tag. There are so many wonderful possibilities to upcycle and create a project out of packaging so look at them closely to save for future projects. Happy Crafting" ~Sandy Trefger
Olde Curiosity Shoppe - Deluxe Collector's Edition
Features two of twelve 12"x12" double-sided papers, Cardstock Sticker Sheet, and decorative chipboard.
Tip:
When creating a shaker element on a tag or card, you want to have plenty of room between the back of the area and the front plastic area. If you assemble the shaker element with foam tape to hold the back and plastic front together and to give you that lift for the bits to shake, those bits often get stuck to the sticky edge of the foam tape. To eliminate this, create your sides out of strips of chipboard or several layers of cardstock strips and use glue, not sticky tape. This way you get the lift you need and nothing sticks to the edges on the inside of your shaker element. If your shaker element is a square, rectangle or circle, you can easily cut your frame layers out of cardstock with a die and glue those together. Add interest to your shaker by using different colors and items to shake such as rhinestones with seed beads.
